It would have also gone towards competing against a dominant Porto midfield. Hargreaves has been a big loss this season, i just hope his new knees will see him start too play regulary for us next season but another loss has been Da Silva at right back ok he's still a little raw but he offers so much more in attack and defence than O'poop.
I'm surprised he didn't change it to a 442 at half time to be honest, Porto were pressing 5 men forward in virtually every attack, leaving Fernando and the back 4 vulnerable to a counter attack, but most of the time, they were only up against Rooney and Ronaldo. The game was screaming out for Carlos Tevez.

Surprised why teams don't do it more often.
Porto were very quick and efficient.. breaking swiftly at any attempt. 2-2 was the least they deserved.
Totally agree
I think more teams should have a go and attack when they go to Old Trafford we showed it can work when we put 3 past them in November ( although we lost 4-3 ) Liverpool, Villa and Porto also went at Utd and scored goals

Carrick seems to play poorly when paired with Scholes.
Scholes I hate to say it, now normally plays poorly against anyone half decent or who harrass the fck out of him.

Utd were poor but Porto were excellent. Utd have really his a bad run just now and it needs to change quickly. We needed mor energy in the middle of the pitch, shame Anderson was not fit.
Unless our performance improve massively I can't see us winning in Portugal.

How good was Fernando in centre mid for Porto last night. Absolute star of the future and I'd give the same accolade to Cissokho at left back, third or fourth time I've seen him now and he's been quality every time.
To end level pegging was the least Porto deserved for a bold, intelligent display. If it hadn't been for Bruno Alves's utter stupidity we might even have ended in the lead.
I have no idea why we played on Sunday. They look shattered from 20 minutes in. 1 day to prepare for a champions league 1/4 final? Great!
Add to that the settled back four (right back open to debate), since that has gone, the whole team has gone to pot. If one isn't suspneded the others are injured.
Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.
