I would have said Dobson is not in the same class as Monaghan based on their form over in the NRL. As you well know some players find it hard to adapt to life over here in SL and there is no guarantee that Orford or Kimmorley would come over here and do a better job than Dobson is currently doing.

TBF though Paul with the loopholes on tax avoidance now being closed on overseas players image rights, the prospect of any more top quality aussies coming over here is diminishing unless they are prepared to take a pay cut, which some already here are likely to have to take.

SL may not be as lucrative and attractive to top quality aussies anymore, so you may be stuck with Thorman for more than just this season

Very true, obviously noone knows how this will effect future transfer dealings just yet.

Not only that but the new franchise criteria place a premium on British players so that could reduce the money available to pay Aussie/Kiwi players.

We were offered Kimmorley when we lost Webbo. We thought due to his age (and prob cost id imagine too) Dobbo was a more sensible option.

He seems to have plenty of life in him, transformed the Bulldogs this season.
