Just had more of the 16's Quevega for the Champion Hurdle - there's only her stablemate who can beat her. Solwhit beat United 3 1/2 lengths, Quevega absolutely obliterated her.

I bet on 7 dogs tonight. 4 won, 3 placed. On the accy, I only had them all to win (and not placed). Ahh well, as we discovered last week, You don't win much when they they all get placed.

On the subject of Quevega; so you'd get stuck into her now then? What about the others in the market.
Your views appreciated, Cheers.

I can's top beating the Quevega and Hurricane Fly drum - these are potentially the best two hurdlers we've seen since the 70's.
Hurricane Fly beat Quevega in France last year though the race probably wasn't run to suit the filly, post-Cheltenham she started out as my "saver" for in case HF didn't win, now she's my main bet. I'm not sure if it's the aim for her tbh but Mullins would be stupid not to at least attempt it.
Time From 3 Out to Finish
Supreme Novices (2m 1f) - 59.58 seconds
Champion Hurdle (2m 1f) - 1:02.56 seconds
Mares Hurdle (2m 4f) - 59.39 seconds
There's various reasons for the slow Champion Hurdle time - mainly that it's due to the ferocious early gallop they went in the race but seeing how Quevega came there cruising round the final turn it's hard to see her not bein able to go the gallop they went early on.
United was beaten 14 lengths at Cheltenham (and tbh Quevega was good value for at least another 5 or 6 lengths given the comment in running read "Held up in midfield, jumped slowly 2nd, closed on leaders from 3 out, led soon after 2 out, drew right away, impressive" though did get 2lbs from United on the day.
The first 5 that day had comments in running of
1 Quevega (FR) SP 2/1F
Robin Des Champs (FR) - Vega IV (FR) (Cap Martin) 5 11-3 W P Mullins
R Walsh 155 — 155
Held up in midfield, jumped slowly 2nd, closed on leaders from 3 out, led soon after 2 out, drew right away, impressive
Prominent, went 2nd 3 out, led narrowly next, soon headed and easily outpaced by winner, held on gamely for 2nd
Well placed, effort 3 out, challenging when mistake 2 out, soon outpaced by winner, mistake last, kept on flat to press for 2nd again
Well placed, outpaced on long run to 3 out and struggling, kept on under pressure from 2 out, gaining on placed horses finish
Led at good clip, headed 2 out, soon outpaced, edged right after last but kept on gamely
All bar the winner came from near the pace and she just picked them up and flew right past them. The positioning of the front runners suggests it's hard to come from off the pace in that particular race - none of the other fancied hold up horses really got into it.
United was beaten 3 1/2 lengths on Saturday in receipt of 7lbs (the same 7lbs that Quevega will get on Champion Hurdle day should she run) so rating the respective races through United (Whiteoak was not far behind United and represents the supposed "best mare in training" prior to Cheltenham) this would put Quevega (on the 3lb's per length scale) 9 3/4 lengths clear of the up and coming Solwhit who was made to work hard by Fiveforthree at Aintree.
Ie. Back Quevega each way at 16's and as long as she runs she shouldn't be out of the first 3.
Thought Jesters Nap was very impressive and can see him having a good run in the Derby as he has consistant early pace a few of the top contenders lack. 33/1 with Ladbrokes seems a very decent price at this stage.

Every year Lister has a hot pot favourite and he could pulverise them all the way through but 10/1 is far too short for a dog to progress round after round and have the luck in running he would need. If anyone is on at 25/1+ fair enough but I think all the value is gone now and each way 2.5/1 for the final is desperate.
