You seem to be insinuating that your club did indeed realise what they were dealing with.
If so, then yes, no signing should have taken place and yes, indeed, this whole show of "meetings" and "discussions" are irrelevant.
So ARE you making the assertion that Rovers knew all?
All I'm saying is that you're wrong in what you've stated, like Kath H, I don't have to comment any further.

Look i think most of us agree the RFL has got to set a bench mark here, and start imposing bans for such things, it was on tv for gods sake it does so much damage to our game we have to be seen to be dealing with it .

All they knew is that an assault had taken place and the pair had pleaded guilty.
The full extent of the atrocious nature of the violence has only come to light during the trial, thanks in part to the CCTV footage only recently revealed.
Rovers or Cas cannot be blamed for signing the players "with this hanging over them". What they are accountable for is how they deal with the situation now it's enormity is revealed.
Cas have sacked their second rate player. As I have stated previously, Rovers are in a slightly more tricky situation as if they sack the thug, someone else will have him. The RFL MUST act to ensure no club have that option.
The fact that the thug has shown no remorse and instead has blamed his actions on a "flashback" to the time he served in Iraq (doing what, exactly?) should only make this easier for them.
Thats my point, If these 2 players were in Australia, Both would be sacked and banned from playing in the league, The RFL should do the same IMO

If I'm wrong, then fine - but how do Rovers justify their signing of the thug if they were fully aware of the situation?
Your comments, Churchill, are intriguing. Were the RFL aware that Rovers were aware??
And now you have shed new light on this - SHOULD they be aware? Perhaps you need to drop the RFL an e-mail. In the interest of justice, of course
Go on then, fill your boots.

Cockayne's court case, in which he pleaded guilty, was concluded in July last year. Rovers subsequently offered him a 3 year deal which he signed in August. Sentencing was due to be made the same week he signed his new deal, but the whole peverting the course of justice extravaganza then kicked off. I would think it unlikely that Rovers would have signed him without knowing the full details of the case which had already been concluded (bar the sentencing aspect), particularly with a solicitor as chairman.

Think Barista just sorted you out, wormy.
