The rumour mill came up with two different stories regarding Clarke yesterday, one is that he has been spared to the same fate as Conlon as he grovelled in front of the squad, the other is that City are waiting for Pawel Abbott to get fit at Darlington then we'll swap them for the rest of the season, and recall Bower.
I'd be more than happy with the latter but can't see it somehow.
I heard the Abbott rumour myself, and with Darlington's financial problems I guess it's possible. But I tend to think the problems at the club are more deep rooted than just the players on the pitch, and no amount of chopping and changing (which, incidentally, is part of the problem, we had 2 players with a squad number from 1-11 and only 4 players who played in the first game of the season yesterday) can sort it out.
I've got tickets to Chester next week, but I must admit I'm not expecting much.
On another note, whatever Daley's weaknesses were, we sure as hell struggle without him now.

Definitely, I think McCall's tendency to over-react when things go wrong is his big weakness as a manager - maybe it is because he is managing City and tries too hard to rectify things? A few weeks ago (before Daley's injury) it seemed he had settled on his best 11, but as soon as we had our first setback he started chopping and changing again.
Yesterday we had 5 loanee's in the team - that just isn't the way to succeed IMO.

Indeed, I think his detractors might be feeling a little sheepish now - for us to play the way we are best suited to Daley was integral.

With 5 loans in the team there is no real spine. Mccall can not expect to succeed when he changes it around so much. Fair enough i can understand he wanted to change it around a bit because of dissapointing results, but as people have pointed out on this thread it's one change too many. Looks like Daley is missed, how is Colbeck playing at the moment?, and KG?.

Colbeck has been awful since his return, playing without any confidence and his touch has totally deserted him, also rumoured to be part of Barry and Matt's little extra-curricular club, along with Kyle Nix.
Gillespie put some decent balls in yesterday but clearly lacked match fitness, he'll probably be ready just as the season finishes.
No, I don't think so either, I don't like this false hope we are being given because ourselves and Shrewsbury are unable to win, I'd rather be able to write the whole thing off now.

We are poor, cant see us going up. Holt will probably leave in the summer too.
