Without referring to any specific incidents my strong suspicion is that clubs will be more willing to 'make a stand' and take swift, firm action when the player involved is on the periphery of the squad or is considered a failure. The RFL can stand above that and be impartial, hopefully.
Bit of a tangent, but does anybody else find it strange that in a case with such clear cut CCTV evidence and in which there was a guilty plea, it took so long for the courts to bring the case to a conclusion? I know that care has to be taken, papers filed, evidence weighed etc, and that a correct decision is more important than a quick one, but nearly 2 years ffs!
wasnt there a quite a deferral while they investigated the perverting the course of justice thing?

Cockayne should be an ambassador for the sport he plays, on and off the field. What example is he setting to the young kids and young lads in the reserve and academy sides by acting like a complete thug? He has made his bed, Hull HR and the RFL should make him lie in it.

You said the RFL should stay out of it as it has nothing to do with them. So who sanctions his playing registration??? He is a professional RL player so it has everything to do with the governing body of that profession.
Using you logic NOBODY would ever get sacked for anything unless it happened in thier place of work.

Out of interest, what do you think the RFL should do to him, life ban, a year, heavy fine. There are lots of opinions on the offence, what about his secondary punishment.
Bear in mind, this policy shift will have to be applied to ALL offenders who are convicted in a court in future years.
