I see your point but IMO the sustained nature of the attack and the fact they went back for another go negates any claim it was a heat of the moment incident and elevates the seriousness of the crime above the (still unforgivable) ones of Raynor and Cooke. The defence said something about "25 seconds of insanity". When you're getting your head kicked in, that's quite a long time.

What is your opinion of Gareth Raynor then and Leon Price ?

When was the last time drug dealers got off with a suspended sentence , oh yes wait a few months back because they had the title of Lord and Lady.
Not condoning what he did it was shocking but please do not turn this argument into a Rovers v Hull . I wouldn't have been suprised if he had gone down for what he had done .

I cannot condone the actions of Ben but what i can say and is based on my own past expierences is, that by punishing him further and dismissing him from rovers would not put any of the wrongs to right or serve any further purpose imo.

He carried out an assult almost two years ago and no doubt one day he will look back and wish he also could turn back the clock, its called growing up and been responsible for your actions.
To be fair to him he has conducted himself a lot better over the last year or so and hopefuly this lesson will make him realise he's in a privileged position and put him on the right path.
If he was expelled from rovers,or from rugby league in general, would that make him a better person?, no of course it would not, if anything it could even have the opposite effect.
After reading some of the posts on here, i suspect that there are certain people who just want blood because of who he is and who he plays for, not for what he did.

This subject has provoked a wide spectrum of opinion in my own mind let alone this thread, but in terms of a player's behaviour, I've never been so rattled in all my my years as Hull Kingston Rovers supporter...

I'd have been quite happy if we had sacked him and the RFL deregistered him for bringing the game into disrepute. This is one area the NRL is way ahead of us on.

Fortunately RL is seen as a minor sport and doesn't get much media attention or stories like these would be very damaging for clubs and the game as a whole.

I really hope he learns his lesson and moves on - he is such a lucky boy - just remember Leon Walker and count your blessings.

Cant help but think that if rovers sack Ben then another club will sign him anyway.

Also if RFl do do something and suspend Ben.. they must then continue with consistency, particularly in the case of Pryce & Reardon etc.

Consistency is the biggest problem in our sport the RFL seem to have fads and then forget future incidents

He's a lucky boy, lets hope he leanrs his lesson. I am all in favour of the RFL and clubs taking further action against players in these cases.

The legal system judges every case on individual merits ,like was the attack sustained,did the victim offer any form of aggression in return,could the victims injuries have been fatal or left any long term effects and more importantly will the defendant be any further danger to the public.
He's a very lucky man not to be behind bars right now, like most have said already and this is becoming a little problem in our game.We used to pride our selves on respect, honour and gentlemanly behaviour on and off the field.Do the decent thing Rovers and the RFL ban him.We've seen one system fail in doing its job properly. Now do yours.
