I think deal all round to be honest.....
Gleeson, just by his body language, seems to want to be as far from Warrington as possible, though I'm not entirely sure why Wigan would please him so much, considering he has always stated his desire to play down under....Purely for this reason, I'd offload him, an unhappy player, especially a good one, can be detrimental to a changing room.
Also, you have to realise the present situation at Wire....we have a new manager who undoubtedly will be looking to stamp his own mark on the club....bringing in Mathers, Goulding and a bit of cash, gives him leeway to do this.
Those doubting Mathers and Goulding should just allow Smith to do his job, and leave the judgement for a couple of years to see how it pans out....Remember, all those 'great' signings of Cullen's over the years were heralded with a fanfare, which usually turned out to be a damp squib.
Its funny hardly anybody sees the Mathers signing as a common sense one??....It's highly likely we'll be short of full back very soon, so bringing in a proven one seems a good idea to me.

I just watched my recording of boots n all, I never realised that Gleeson may actually leave in return for cash plus mathers and goulding, I thought that it was someone making crap up.
How does this actually benefit us?????
Get rid of our star player for some average players?

I can see where you're coming from, and Smith's record at Leeds would suggest he's hardly going to be 'duped' into a bad deal from his side.
I, like many other Wigan fans were pleased when we signed Mathers, but his defence at times is atrocious. More so than his ability, his body language and seeming lack of desire frustrates me, and we certainly have seen nothing like the form we know he's capable of from his days at Leeds.
If the rumours of Gleeson wanting out are true, it may well prove to be an intelligent bit of business for both teams, acquiring a player in position they need to strengthen, while attempting to harmonise the dressing room a bit.

And you think Gleeson is the Answer ,ask yourself the question why do we want to off load him

You muppet. He meant Warrington want to harmonise the dressing room!
Gleeson needs to wake up or his promising career will quickly fade out completely. His recreational activities have got to be stopped and he's got to realise that this move is his chance to sort himself out. He's spent 4 or so years wallowing over his mistake, he needs to grow up and get over it.
Ive said this elsewhere. I back TS on this. Free up cap space, cover for full back where we may be lacking shortly and a good youth player (if those are the terms.)
On paper it doesnt look great but it does make sense as hes going anyway. Look at the bigger picture.
