If you want to sign Long who will finish this season 33 years old, when you have Sam Tompkins availiable, are you really a wigan fan?

You say we do not need another centre? Sorry but if you think make-shift centre Bailey is acceptable then your wrong. If you think Goulding is better than Gleeson, your wrong. Gleeson is a better centre than both of them and would help bring the best of Amos out. I am NOT saying he is the saviour of Wigan.
Goulding has had many seasons at Wigan and had plenty of opportunities to prove his worth, shown little of it. IMO he has only showed poor defense and ball greedy play in attack. I don't want to see him go as a lot of people say he will come good and if that was true we'd want him. But right now Gleeson IS the better choice.
We have a list of players that are extremely average and do not make the first team, swapping two of those for one that would improve the starting 17 is good business.
GRANTED we ALL know we need a prop, but i'm sure IL and BN have looked around and cannot get one they want for the future, so will have to wait until the end of the season. We may need a new halfback to partner Sam. Also most likely to happen at the end of the season.
But we also need a new centre as Bailey aint a centre and Goulding is struggling to make the position his when an average 2nd rower is getting selected before him. Gleeson as it seems is available to some extent, so that is why we are going for a centre instead of a prop and halfback at this time.

Same old really, people playing players cos they were good in the NRL etc, it just isn't relevant when people are playing badly in the here and now!
Just pleased Noble has the sense to drop Roberts like he did.
And for the record, Richards was being played as a centre when he first arrived, out of position, unlike Roberts.
Roberts will be on the wing for these reasons
-Pryce is playing even worst when picked for the first team, and showing (if possible) less desire to be on the field.
-Richards has to go to FB cos Mathers is poop
Wigan's team often picks itself, by default.
1 Richards (By default cos Mathers is poop)
2 Richards (By default cos Richards when to FB and Pryce has been donk)
3 Bailey (By Default cos no one else can play centre Phelps and Goulding both tried there first
4 Caromont
5 Ainscough (By Daefault cos Richards moved to FB cos Mathers was donk)
6 Tomkins (By default. Meant to be Smiths time in the halves, but after being awful he had to be dropped)
7 LuLu, better at 9 but playing 7 cos Sam's playing 6 and Smith is donk
8 Fielden cos we have a shortage of props
9 Riddell Should be dropped by we can't really when Tommy has to play in the halves
10 Coley Shortage of props.
11 Hock
12 Tomkins
13 Lockers Capt cos there's no one else, not as if he's a good capt.
I think this fair reflects our record for this season. 3 wins from 8 is it?
