it's a notable point.

Regardless, back to the point of:

Who are your two starting wingers and why if an out and out FB is brought in?

correct andy.

if they couldnt we would never see an inside pass.

This thread gets better and better it really does.

Roberts is on a four year deal and is going no where. How about instead of writing him off after 10 games of playing along side world class centres like Bailey & Goulding we try something different?

How about we;

A-Get a good centre who actually plays like a centre should? One pass was given to Roberts on Friday in a try scoring position and guess what he finished it perfectly going in low at the corner a proper wingers try.

B-Actually use his side of the field as the majority of our play goes towards Carmont. It's a recipe for disaster as if you manage to contain Carmont then you've practically ended our chances of scoring!

C-Work on the flaws in his game & build his confidence up! It's amazing what would happen if we had a coach who instead of managed a team actually spent time developing the players by coaching them! It's easy to knock a player or drop him but you'd get lots more back if you worked with him!

We have to work with the players we’ve got like it or not and try to improve them unless they have suddenly become bad players over night? No one is saying we are a GF winning team yet but this team is a Hell of a lot better than the level it is currently playing at.

Roberts is a class act, pair him with gleeson and he'll be scoring tries for fun.

It's pretty obvious that Roberts' confidence is pretty low, so he needs a bit of time and a bit of support. Richards didn't exactly have a prosperous first season did he? You've got to feel sorry for Roberts because he's getting no service whatsoever. It was the same for Calderwood...

Who do you think has had a better attitude? Richards/Roberts or Ainscough/Roberts?

No contest. Richards and Ainscough are the first two choice wingers IMO.

I agree with your sentiments that standards should be raised at Wigan and there should be a ruthlessness employed to meet those standards.

However Amos Roberts is a proven, classy winger. I'm a big fan of his and although he's not set the world on fire, there's not doubt in my mind that all he needs are two things - time and a good centre.

The try he scored against Huddersfield would not have been scored by Colbon, Calderwood or Richards for that matter. That's what he does best and I look forward to him doing it more regularly at Wigan.

I see Richards, Ainscough and Roberts as the long term back three at Wigan.
