As a Giants fan i am used to having to take a lot of crap. Over the years we have had a poor record in Sl and have still got the worst losing margin in a SL game. the merger and issues of relegation have not helped.
Despite that the club have tried to build themselves up and it is finally paying off.
despite that some coaches have tried to criticise our recent success and tactics. As a fan of many years i have noticed that this season we are doing well what we have been taught by other teams particualrly Saints and Leeds.
recently Both Noble and Matterson have had a go about our tackling and PTB. The RLE was full of Wigan fans complaining about our tactics.
After watching Boots n All tonight we finally have evidence to show that the previously mentioned coaches are losing , whingers and complete W@nkers.
The Boots N All team have analysed our team in have come to the following conclusions.
Paul Cullen ' the Giants are doing nothing different to other teams they are just doing it better'
Phil Clarke @ the giants are just playing the way as other teams, no garpples no slowing down the play the ball, they did nothing different to Wigan'
Eddie, ' it seems the only coaches complaining are those who have lost to the Giants'
So there we have it in a nutshell. We now have a coach who knows how to get the best out of his players even despite their limitations ( take note Mr Noble), they remain focused and work hard all game and do not make excuses ( take note Mr Matterson).
What both of the above coaches have in common is an inabilty to be gracious in defeat and to give their opponents some credit.
I would have posted on the Wigan forum but any posts critical of them seem to get locked.
I have no doubt that we will not be able to keep our current success all season BUT we are heading in the right direction in every criteria that needs to be judged. Taking well over 500 tickets for the Quins game away this season, over a 1000 at Bradford for our first league win for 40 years, over 5500 season tickets sold and heading to a 9000 average crowd this season.
Win lose or draw the Giants are here to stay, to grow and bring success back to the home of RL......

Three things...
1) A "Boots n All" analysis doesn't make anything "Official". 2) Noble and Matterson are not the only two to complain about Giants tackling technique. IIRC Agar complained too (and they beat you).
3) Have a pint and a fag. Go on, you sound like you really need it...
I was talking about Friday nights game at work today and described the game as a contest between 2 teams that play a pretty dire gameplan but one is miles better at it then the other. Huddersfield look to be mastering the art of grinding teams down whereas we try to but are awful at it because we don't have enough players willing to bend their backs or capable of producing indivisual pieces of brilliance like you have.
I have no real problem with Huddersfield playing the way they do as you've got to do what ever you can to win. It isn't the most entertaining but it's getting the points on the board and thats what really matters.
As for how the games involving Huddersfield are being reffed well i had no problem with the general standard on Friday. We got plenty of penalties for the usual holding down and the like but weren't good enough to take the chances on the back of that.
The one decision i had a real big problem with was the disallowed try for Amos Roberts which to me looked a try for all money but that was made by the in-goal judge so again no problems.
I'd agree. No love lost from me for the Giants, but your tactics are no different from that of plenty of other teams - no matter how much it annoys me generally, its a widespread issue. Can only begrudingly credit you for being more effective at it.
You are correct that Noble and Matterson are moaners who like to put the blame elsewhere. Shudds did have an arguably greater exponent of that approach in Sharpe & he was clearly holding you back. I can only assume Noble takes that mantle because out of frustration that he can't recreate past glories; Matterson's motives I've no real guesses. As an aside I had a conversation with a workmate (a football fan) about this months back - whether it's better for a manager to spout clear crap in denial about his teams shortcomings. I can understanding wanting to protect them in public & keep any solutions in house, but when it gets extreme, surely they lose all credibility.
If you can't beat them don't join them

right this is how it is,like it or lump it.
for years wigan, and castleford, amongst most,.if not every super league club saw a game v huddersfield as a guaranteed 2 points...fast forward a few years, and huddersfield have one of the best coaches in the game and are now competitive, even beating the likes of wigan and castleford, and guess what, they dont like getting beaten by "lowly" huddersfield so have to make excuses to appease their supporters
as my sig says, who will be next???

funny how both matterson and noble forget to mention how their teams benefitted from a big penalty count in their favour, not to mention possession in their favour and both coaches saw us reduced to a man short but still couldnt beat us.
i ask matterson and noble, why not

I wouldn't get too far ahead tbh mate.
Wigan are no great shakes nor are Cas are any of the other sides you've beaten this season.
At the end of the day this is a 2 team league and the rest of us are also rans. We're much of a muchness that can all beat each other on any given day.
I really do hoe somebody can break that pretty soon but i certainly don't see it this season.

Where've you been for the last five years?
Most Cas fans NOW would be among the first to welcome clubs like Giants doing well. Some of you guys really need to brush that chip off and take a chill pill.

Yeah after spending 2 of the last 5 years in nl1 we begrudge a side that has been in SL and built up a steady squad a victory against us no seriously...... Cant comment on your game with wigan however your dicipline against us was crap. take a look at the penalty count.
The whole world is not out to get your club you know, the sooner the hudds fans on rlfans get this the better. nobody cares if its you up at the top of the league or any other club
I'd imagine a higher penalty count against Huddersfield is a reflection of Huddersfields gameplan - to grind teams down. They are going to give away penalties doing it, but that is one of the consequences of playing that sort of game. However, it does have its benefits at the same time. Huddersfield have done nothing differently to other teams except they have done it better and have been more clinical. All of the best teams push the boundaries, it is part of the game IMO.
