Does anyone else think that if you're paying a player off due to injury that it shouldn't count on the cap? This would allow teams (us) to get in adequate cover.

Why that money spent ..If a player get an injury and his play career is finished he has a right to that money ..its up to the Clubs to try to get insurance to cover that problem ..But what If a Club wants out of a contract and try to use injury has an excuse .. :?:

But then you're left with no room on the cap to cover an accidental injury. Insurance pay out or not. Even if you have to have the injury verified by the rfl, you should then get dispensation.

That's just the luck of the draw and the very nature of sport.

i thought you could simply deregister players from you squad and thus salary quota? so any earnings from then on (in honouring the contract) didnt count on that seasons salary cap?

No cos players would be getting dumpeed and money wasted all the time
and thats what the salary cap is trying to stop could you imagime wigan they would pay players off when injured and then sign them back on a lower wage

There are injuries and injuries. It could open a can of worms and be open to interperatation which means it'll probably end up in court.

Who can remember when the blood bin came in ??

Physio's carried vials of bloodlike fluid to get players breathers without using subs.

If there is a loophole it wil be exploited, Wigan would have paid off loads in the last two years, I suspect Wire are in the same boat now.

Whole point of the salary cap is you go with what you've got, shortfall must be made up by your own youngsters. But for this may of those now blossoming at all clubs would never have got a chance.
