It certainly is mate. That's some effort chief! I seem to remember when we used to go on family holidays to St Ives, four hours into the journey we'd be stuck in traffic about 30 miles shy of Brum
an atmosphere that isn't created by people in matching shirts clapping along to a drum or novelty PA music might be nice!

The trick is to avoid Saturday mornings during the school summer holidays.I learned from experience.Once left Widnes at 9am and limped into Perranporth some 9 hours later. Now we leave Friday lunch time and the staff at the holiday parks can usually find an extra nights accomodation(UK holidays are usually sat-sat).That was my record though,4 hours 25 mins.Waited in Newquay for all the Saturday traffic to disperse and left at tea time,5pm.Foot down, non stop all the way back, crossed half way over the Runcorn bridge at 9.25pm.

When I lived in Plymouth, I sometimes used to drive up to Widnes on a Friday night of a bank holiday weekend and the cars on the other side of the road would be queing up to get into Cornwall all they way up past Bristol, which was 120+ miles. Saturday mornings in August would be even worse.
Going the other way wasn't normally so bad, although I did once leave Plymouth at 4:30pm on the Friday before xmas and got to Runcorn at just after 2:30am, not having got past Birmingham until after 1am - no accidents or anything, just volume of traffic.

I finish work at 2pm. I'll pop over to Widnes and pick you up - so long as you don't mind travelling in a Yarkshire car adorned with blue & white regalia and listening to my singalongablueandwhitebarmy CD collection. You also have to swear an oath of allegience to the mighty Fax before you travel in my FaxMachine roadster. I'll pick you up outside your place of work at 17.30 - you can bring me one of your staff freebie's for my tea (Bigmac & fries)

In short, Vikingmon is scared of another defeat and as such is grasping any excuse possible to avoid going (further proof being that even our club coaches, never mind cars, aren't leaving Leigh until 5:45pm when we play at Wakefield on Friday, and that's at least another 20 miles further away than 'Fax!)
Shut it Matt you big tart.
Friday is a bitch day for work and i have bloody loads to do which will probably mean i will be leaving after 5:30pm. In the event that i do finish earlier i will be jetting along the motorway to the land of people with no teeth and dodgy accents.
