Firstly I am not blaming any failures on the National League. I also do not believe the clubs should be kept at their own level but frankly with the quality of imports being brought into the NL clubs, it isn't going to be raising any level either.
The fact very few British SL players come through the National Leagues is the exact reason for my point. How on earth is any British kid going to make any level if at a side not playing a high standard anyway, his progression is blocked by yet another average Antipoedean ? What sense does that make ?
The lower leagues should be used as a breeding ground for British talent and if a side reaches the standards of SL level with that talent, all the better.
