He has not the physical stamina and appearance that could inspire confidence in a team of trim professional athletes. Nor does he have a coach's personality. Sure he knows lots about the technical side of the game.

This is possibly the stupidest comment I've heard on why someone shouldn't be a coach. Was Wayne Bennett too old? And there are a hell of a lot of fat coaches out there. Why does a coach need physical stamina and appearance? If you think he's a bad coach, think of some relevant reasons rather than just attacking him on a personal basis.

They might not be winning yet, but they're getting pretty close, give it time and it'll work for them.

Don't rule out Agar either, they're going well at the moment.

Wayne Bennett is old (approaching 60), but he was never fat. Wayne used his age to acquire wisdom, because he learnt from experience, which other older coaches often do not do.

Age is most relevant on many occasions if the coach cannot keep up with new methods. That is why the Sydney Roosters were glad to see the back end of dour Chris Anderson, even though he was not fat. He had no structures. Similarly John Monie, a very nice man, was living off the coaching techniques of 20 years ago.

I don't mind losing matches if we are blooding our academy players, but we're running on rubbish imports, which seems an excentric choice at best.

michael hagan

john lang

graham murray

1 has coached a team to the nrl GF, another has taken his teams to 2 NRL GF and the other took a team of wooden spooner to the NRL GF win 2 years later.

been really disappointed with catalans

walters never did anything coaching in oz and cats have paid the price for risking too many times on unproven coaches

spot on here, what a shock

bennett goes on runs with his players and beats many of them

he bench presses something like 80 kg - 100 kg as well.

he shames his players on the training paddock

Graham Murray will be in blighty in a few weeks for Leeds 99 Cup Final reunion dinner.

Struggling clubs would be foolish not to take the opportunity to speak to him.

Quote:Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.
