If SL Clubs wanted feeder clubs, then they should form a B-team to enter into Championship One, which couldnt be promoted to the Championship, a la Castilla to Real Madrid.

I suspect gates would increase to catch a glimpse of highly promising young players. The standard of play in the championship would also increase.

You have already been answered by others

So unless the SL club is footing the bill then there is no benifit to the Championship clubs

Helping to develop SL players for SL clubs is counter productive to Championship clubs

The RFL wants clubs to poroduce thier own players to score browny points

Either the Championships are thier own comp in thier own right or they are a comp for feeder clubs

Nobody is going to invest in a feeder club , so if that is what they are they need funding from the relevant SL club

And the RFL are actively encouraging the Championship clubs to find investors , but then again the RFL havent a clue what they are doing from one minute to the next

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

I wouldnt be opposed to this, however the championship clubs would, as they know that they would be embarrassed by the likes of Saints and Wigan reserves giving them hammerings every week.

How many of the championship teams run under 21/ academy sides?
Cant see any mention of any on Widnes, Leigh or Halifax websites.

I know clubs do community work, but if they are merely running a first team and nothing else then i dont see how Championship clubs can complain about the RFL wanting them to do their bit for player develoment.

Cant see it being televised if only 2 superleague games a week are actually shown now.

Sky in the early years of Super League used to show an hours highlights from an Academy Match each week (on a Tuesday Night if I recall) which they filmed from the venue of their live Friday Night match each week. But with most sides dropping academy curtain raisers (with the increase of ground sharing with football) and playing games at local amateur venues instead they had to stop doing it.

Maybe that's because those competitions have not yet started

Widnes run both , Leigh run reserves but not u 18 ' because of financial constraints

Fax , I dont know yet but they did run reserves last year

Widnes are running with 12 of the 14 Super League clubs in the Gillette Academy (Under 18s) league to start next weekend. Celtic and Catalans are the two SL clubs that aren't.
