At least a dozen players in front of him. I just want him to concentrate on playing well for Rovers, but he's about as close to an international shirt as Kris Welham - a long way away.

I named 7
Then Washbrook was put into the hat.
Who are the other 4 ?

Murrell is better defensively.
Has a better kicking game and can lead the team around the park better then Washbrook.
Id say at ball handling they are on a par and Washbrook has the advantage on making clean breaks / tackle busts.

No blinkers at all.
Some Hull players are better then their counterparts at Craven Park but in this instance i believe Murrell to be the better of the 2.

Always liked that Jonny Queer guy, spoke very sensibly most of the time

I'm sorry but there is no chance on gods green earth that Murrell is better defensively than Washbrook. He may have the edge in the kicking department and the need to lead the team around the park is a non argument.

Like i said, lets agree to disagree Paintboy

what's a darby?

"They'd butt each other like a pair of billy goats and would both look like a mess at the end of the game. I'd often see Billy an hour later sharing a beer with his rival, with both blokes sporting half a dozen stitches in their scones. They were a breed apart, fornt-rowers - blokes like Bluey were proof of that." Johnny Raper on Billy Wilson and other front rowers of the time

If you can somehow get to see the tries from Celtic / Hull earlier this season you will see what my point is with Washbrook's defence.
3 Celtic tries where scored because of him.
Whenever i see Hull live or on sky he is weak in this facet of his game.
Murrell's missed tackle count is offset by the amount of defensive work he gets through in 80 minutes IMO.
Plus i dont recall many tries being conceded because of Murrell's defence.
I thought the Monaghan try last week may have been one but after seeing the game on TV that was down to Galea shooting out the line.

Scott has a good football brain can organise & tackles well above his size, but even with my red & white specks on I dont think he is quiet good enough for England. For one good reason he has no pace if he gets through the gap & to put him ahead of Westerman (who is something very special indeed)or Sinfield well I just dont see it. I would be very happy to be proved wrong as I like him in our side & hope he is around for a lot more seasons & who knows in a couple of seasons?

Washbrook is technically better in just about every department. He busts the line, he's quick, has great hands and defends superbly. He gets his head in tight and his contact is generally very sound. I would take him over Murrell any day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

It takes more than a late tackle on Brad Drew to get an England shirt

No he isn't. Murrell has a far superior passing and kicking game by a million miles - absolutely no comparision, Murrell is naturally gifted in this department.

Washbrook is a far better runner of the ball and he can bust tackles.

Defensively both players have different attitudes to defence so it's probably more of a matter of opinion.

Horses for courses whether you want a runner/tackle buster (Washbrook) or a distiributor/kicker (Murrell).

Fair enough.

For me Washbrook has all the attributes to be the perfect modern day LF and is potentially top class. He is technically competant in all the necessary facets of the game and WILL become an international player in due course.

Its also worth noting he would have played for England in 2007 but for his shoulder injury
