Really enjoyed the game on Sky tonight. A gameof two halfs or should i say a game of the Hill and the Wind.

First half was all gateshead attacking down the slope with the wind behind them. For those not familiar with batley think about two teams one stood at the top of scafell pike and the other at the bottom.

Second half all Gateshead.

A draw was a fair result. well done to gateshead in getting their first point.

That pitch sloped about 10ft down at one end.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

As i remember there is a slope all the way down and then in the RH corner it just disappears on like a 1 in 4 gradient.

Seconded - I loved Batley away. Fantastic vibe to the place.

Did any of the older viewers think Hendo's scrum cap put them in mind of Kendo Nagasaki?

Great day out at Batley - last summer - sunny day, rock band playing in a trailer truck, beer and pie in the car park - all washed down with a crackin' Halifax victory - last minute score by Ben Black. Fantastic day out.
