No, that is your opinion, NOT a fact. I've already proved that not all scrums are pointless, giving you examples of how they can directly lead to fantastic RL.
You haven't proved it, all you have done is type something that you could of quite easily have typed the same thing from a contested scrum
FACT is contested scrums were the norm and it was changed bit by bit until a scrum became a non event .
And yes I am entitled to my opinion the same way you are yours, tell you what put a poll on it and find out what the majority think contested scrum or not or no scrum 3 options .

Your right in what you say, scrums have been altered to much i.e the ball doesn't have to go in the middle and your hardly allowed to push anymore, this means the scrum had become somewhat pointless.
A group of players scrum down and stay static, the ball put through 1 mans leg at the back and out it comes, play-on.
Dont see a point in having them you may aswell just tap and go.

But surely, tapping the ball half heartedly against your ankle or foot is alot more of a aberration against the game, considering the ratio in which the foot is used in a predominantly hand based game.
Surely we should be replacing the tap as it slows down the game as the player waits to collect the ball and the reciever starts his run from ten metres behind, straight into the line?

Whats the difference half halfheartedly tapping the ball against your foot or half halfhearted having a sham of a scrum or have a proper scrum where the ball is put into the hookers feet after all that is what hookers are for or should I say that is what they were originally for IMO it is the one and only point our game falls down on,some people may say it would bring back a lot of penalties but I would disagree I think it would enhance the game and would bring less penalties than say the P.O.T.B. which is strewn with penalties and stops the game more often than anything else why not revert to having 1 marker at the P.O.T.B. and reduce the not square pens !

I'm just watching Manly v the NZ warriors and there has just been a full on contested scrum and it was a shambles...at first I just thought it was the front rows pushing but the hookers where in fact striking for the ball quite agressively that sort of unsettled the front rows the scrum started to spin and it turned into a mess.......Sterlo reckoned it should have been a penalty against the team spinning the scrum in fact the scrum was just re-taken....
can you imagine Nathan Brown with his "8 tactics a ref wouldnt notice" coaxing a team to spin a scrum and continually gaining penalties at scrums.... wouldnt that be entertaining...and not at all frustrating !!!
scrums are fine...after all Richard Henare became a legend after scoring from a set move from a scrum didnt he...

Scrums reward the non-offending team. If you lose possession, you shouldn't have a fair fight to regain the ball. Teams who have a much stronger pack could "accidently" knock-on during a 5th tackle, and regain the ball from the resulting scrum.
As said.. ain't broke, don't fix it.
