Fame at last

Oh happy days.......

Now ,now,lets not get too nostalgic

Loads of laughs from some great characters.My favourite time was early eighties and the songs from a section of the crowd lead by a guy called Stan.How they used to think of the lyrics is beyond me.
Happy days and something the sterility of the KC wont ever have IMO.

It is just amazing the place never caught fire with the ritual burning of the Rovers scarf in the rafters every week!! Then there were the throwing of coins (pieces of silver) onto the pitch near Schofield when he came visiting and the shouts of "in off the Black" when the ball hit Barrends on the head and shot into touch! Totally un Pc but pretty brilliant back then!!

No chance of that.The rafters may have burnt but the rest of it wouldnt have!!!

The stand was soaked with stale pi55!! The best fire prevention method known to man!!

I liked the characters who used to p1ss on your back when you were a little kid or stubbed their cigs out in the trilby of the old fella at the front. Ahhh, those were the days...

talking of throwing coins on the pitch remember when the collection of the day walked round the edge of the pitch with the big bed sheet to catch the monies in & after a few people taking "pot shots" at em they started to weaqr motor bike helmets!!

Without doubt the stand and its characters are sadly missed,but stories will be told for years to come.
I miss the place but accept that the club would not be were we are now had we stayed.Unfortunately time moves on,memories will fade and the new generation will wonder what all the fuss was about.My memories are all good ones,there were characters at all 4 sides of the old place but none as memorable as in 3d,s.
