It's still Terry Newton. He is the only player I've seen that actually tried to kill someone, not once but several times in the same game. Almost every time he does something naughty, the player he does it to has a St Helens shirt on his back, yet the RFL don't see the link.

Terry Newton is far from being a coward.

Anyone prepared to pull on a pair of boots and face up to guys like Fozzard, Peacock etc running at them full tilt cannot possibly be called a coward.

He may have taken some cheap shots at people in the past, and he might do so again. That doesn't make him a coward.

Anyone who is prepared to get their boots on and play RL has my respect.

That includes Leon Pryce no matter what he does off the field.

Quite right, end of thread really.

And that applies right down to grassroots rugby.

What about a player 'choosing' their targets and the manner in which it is done?

Could a cheap shot be defined as an act of cowardice.

Yes it could. Sonny Nickle, Vila Matautia, Chris Arkwright and Leon Pryce have all dabbled with the virtual lost art form but none were/are cowards generally.

Only if you believe that there are enough hiding places on a rugby field to be able to sneak in, throw a punch and then disappear for the rest of the match, and repeat for the rest of the season.

Thats not the case.

Ask a professional who the "cheap shot merchants" are and they might name a few names but they'd never call them cowards because they all know how easy it is to target those players.
