Briers spoke out about the boo boys and expressed his gratitude towards the fans who stick by the team and his (admittedly clumsily put) words were twisted against him and he was turned into a hate figure. Anyhow, apparently Barrow coach Dave Clark has dismissed the rumours about Briers going up there.

I reckon Briers has been one of the best 3 players at the club during every season he has been here - that's impressive by anyone's standards.

He didn't get many chances at international level, so it's hard to judge how good he could have been, but I do remember him having an absolute blinder for Wales against Australia in the World Cup, when a team made up of mainly NL players gave the World Champs a real scare.
