Widnes games, however, are covered by Warrington Police, too, but, barring a cup tie, we won't be seeing any of those in the immediate future.
Some good points raises there. I am guessing that Salford bring around the 1k mark or so? Also are the Police intelligence who turn for the games against Hull/KR from Humberside? Something that did go through my mind when I saw this thread, I remember when we used to play you frequently, when getting off at central for games at Wildespool there was a police presence but not a massive amount. However when we came to HJ there seemed to be a shed load, winwick road lined with riot vans. Surely there should have been more of OB presence for the games at W'pool, as there was the mammoth walk down Bridge st and onto the causeway etc. Seemed bizzarre.
an atmosphere that isn't created by people in matching shirts clapping along to a drum or novelty PA music might be nice!

No, the club get charged a considerable amount of money for their presence, add to the list salford for this years policing.

.
When did this start?
Last year, the Police were doing so out of the interest of Public safety.

they've always charged, it goes up if the crowd goes up over a certain amount or there's concerns expressed about away fans. ie hull fc last year when they smashed places up pre and post match.
police don't do owt for free!

They don't charge the club for it, they do it to prevent such instances, hence why they turn out for specific matches; matches targetted by Cheshire Police as potential risks to public order. Or, so I (we) was told last season by the stadium manager.
