Oh God

I find it very hard to believe that the ECB can host all 59 IPL matches without disrupting the county schedule and without irritating the counties and sky to boot. A logistical nightmare, especially at such short notice.

Could it really happen? Would you go to watch?

Since the whole tournament was built for the Indian TV market, what times are games going to take place? Midday? What would attendances be like?

I wouldn't think twice about going if I could get tickets. I really enjoyed last years tournament and I think this is the only chance we will get to see these star studded teams in the UK.

I was told that YCCC had offered to host the scheduled Pakistan V India tests and were comfortable they would sell out.

I think there would be interest from all if the IPL games were here, but obviously I would take the games to areas with big Indian and Pakistani populations close by

Personally I think more twenty20 is the last thing we need in this country, we're already hosting some world cup thing this summer anyway.

From memory, the games last year started late afternoon our time, finishing at around half seven. Given that the clocks will have gone forward, I don't think there'll be too much of a problem playing them at a time suitable for the sub-continent.

As for attendances, what does it matter? As you say, it was all built for TV anyway, so they'd still get their target audiences. It might even work out better for them, with games taking place near large Asian populations it may encourage more people to attend.

I'm not saying I think it will, or should, happen, but I can see why we're in pole position for it.

Would be a way for Lancashire to use OT now that they've lost the various international tests. Could easily stage 10 or 12 of the IPL games.

If any get to Hove would definitely go and see them :)

I would imagine it will be a case of using a small number of grounds often and I'd imagine there is a fair chance that the close proximity of Leicester, Derby and Nottingham would put them in contention and posibly add in Edgbaston too. The real problem will be fitting it in around the County Championhip games already scheduled which could mean the same ground being used 4 or 5 days on the trot which might not help crowd figures.

I'm still not sure that Headingley will be ready to play YCCC fixtures in April, never mind test or IPL.

I dont see that it necessarily has to be held at the big venues. I'd expect big crowds for the first few matches and the climax of the competition. But I'm not sure that there will be huge crowds for mid week matches starting at 11.30 in April.
