were waiting on the safety people to get back to us on the capacity following the recent inspections

which will be roughly between 4,500 and 6,000

Why are 'safety people' doing their assessments now opposed to before the start of Barrows 2009 season?

People are quick to blame Wigan and their supporters for being disorganized/whinging about the ticket situation, but it's not our fault that things are up in the air.

Had Barrow said ''Right, our capacity is (x) and you'll be getting 30% of (x)'' then Wigan would have been able to let their supporters know and allow them to distribute the exact amount of tickets accordingly on a first come, first serve basis.

The capacity set at the start of the season was 4,500 I think. This is more than ample for all Championship clubs (bar Widnes). The club are doing everything they can to get up to the 6,300 mark so more tickets will be available.

Increasing the capacity costs money as there are things that need to be put in place and people that need to be available/trained-up. At the start of the season I would say there was a 100/1 chance that we would draw a team in the Challenge Cup that would mean a crowd of more than 4,500. That 100/1 chance has happened. It certainly wasn't worth spending all the money required to increase the capacity on the off-chance that we MAY get Wigan or Saints at home in the Cup.

So do you want Barrow to stick with the 4,500 capacity, or try and get it raised.?

Spending money that didn't need to be spent would be unprofessional and foolish for a Championship club. Believe me, Barrow are a very professionally run club. An unprofessional club would repeatedly break the salary cap and sell it's ground to Tesco.

But that would never happen at a Super League team would it ?

Get a grip people.

I've no ill feeling towards any Wigan fan and the town is buzzing about the Raiders at present. The Wigan match is just the icing on the cake.

What I do take exception to is Barrow RL being called 'unprofessional' and 'insignificant' amongst other things - all because we have the audacity to want to play a home game AT HOME !!!

All in Barrow are looking forward to a Wigan invasion and a good competitive game - just like the old times. You have to remember that lower league clubs have been shafted on a grand scale with the scrapping of promotion.

An traditional, ambitious, well run club, with a large catchment area and growing fanbase seems to have no place in the sport any more.

Take a step back and appreciate what you have.

 :SLEEPY:

How long do we have to listen to all the lower league clubs going on and on and on about this subject? Believe it or not it's what's best for the game not for the clubs.

No promotion and relegation has so far been one of the best things to happen to RL if you want proof just look at Castleford and Catalans and how far they have come without the yo yo effect you get of coming up then straight back down again. We need stability and a very strong league and this is the best way to achieve it.

It's not like it's a closed shop forever either if you can offer what one of the clubs in SL can’t in just over two years time then you’ll be in simple as that really.
