Great thread Mr Moustache.

Yesterday I was at a christening in St Helens (more on that in a minute) and at the little soiree afterwards was talking to a bunch of blokes that I sometimes to go the Saints games with (I watched Fridays on t'telly). Consensus was it was a great, hard game - they really enjoyed it and whilst Bailey got their tempers going at the game they accepted he'd actually done nowt wrong.

They were all of the opinion that we (Leeds) had more to offer and weren't over-confident of a victory in the cup game.

The reason I tell you this is because most genuine fans don't post on here. Those that do are probably decent blokes in real life. But give them a key board and access to opposition fans and they're transformed into uber-cocks.

Spending yesterday afternoon at the bar with real ST Helens fans talking rugby was a million miles away from my encounters with the tossers posting on here Friday night and Saturday.

Anyway, at the christening, in the church there was another family having their little 'un christened. In their congregation they had Mr Stereotype who had come to a christening in a shell suit and Liverpool top (he'd made an effort, it was the home top). Absolutely genuine. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Quote:Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

Well they've kept alive some of your reality. You've already found out Santa is make believe, you don't need to know the same about the Easter Bunny.

The banter they had was backed up with some actual knowledge aswel, as opposed to some of the nonsense posted on here this weekend.

Is all this about Bailey deflecting the attention off Gilmour on Lee Smith??? He virtually wrenches Smiths head off, Smith pushes him away and then Big Hard Gilmour smacks him and hey presto.... penalty against Lee Smith!! Oh yes, all under the nose of Bentham...

By the way King Monkey, did you tell Bailey that Fa'arseavaloo had said he was a softcock?? He certainly knows different now! He also stood his ground ready for whatever was coming and not running off down the East Lancs Road like some have said!

I don't get to games much these days but for many years I was home and away every week. One of the best parts of the day at an away game was having conversations with other teams fans - often some knowledgeable old boy on his own looking for someone to talk to. It was the way you got to know about what fans from other clubs thought of their own players and performances. Always enjoyable, and in 10-15 years on the terraces I hardly heard 1% of the cack that people come out with on here in an average evening. It's great to talk to real people every now and then and get back to reality.
The Ryan Bailey thing is baffling to me. I have my theories but probably best kept to myself as I do like to think people have evolved a little way in the last 20-30 years (and I beleive it's a only a small number of people who crawl out from all parts of the RL World - even our own city).

I don't know what Gilmour was smoking. Oh looking at the picture below I do:

Looks like when Graham shat himself, he caked Gilmour in it, and he couldn't resist trying to shove it up Kylie's nose.

Seriously another bad effort tackle, round the head.

Below how Leeds players tackle:

Hard and legal.

I know exactly what you're driving at and agree. Look at the way Barrie Mac was viewed by opposition fans. A love-able rogue. In fact, on the Dulls board this weekend they've said as much.

Now, I love Barrie as much as the next Rhino fan. He was a legend. But his acts of thuggery were way in excess of Ryans. What makes fans view Ryan with such a hostile lack of logic and Barrie with such affection? Hmmmm, I wonder what the difference could be.

Perhaps Ray could post something enlightening.
