Don't be soft. Wilkin helped to diffuse the situation as it was just at that moment (given that it all blew up again shortly after). Don't forget to say thank you to Mr Wilkin for saving your little Mr Smith from what might have been a few more bruises to important body parts.

Quote:was a awful call by bentham/touch judge. gilmour should have got 10 at least

Was an extremely wise call by the ref. Were you at Knowsley Road for the match? If not then you maybe can be forgiven for not understanding the temperature in the ground at that time but if you were then you have no excuse for recommending Bentham bins only one of the two players involved. Smith clearly started it by punching out and then Gilmour reacted (well, over-reacted actually). If it was going to be a binning then both would have been binned, not just Gilmour. Is that what you wanted? And what would that have done to the temperature in the ground? Would things have slipped out of control? A bit of biff is one thing, an all out fight that threatens the match is something else entirely.

I thought Bentham handled it very well indeed. And I say that still wanting Bailey to have been sent off for a high tackle in the face on Faz. He still handled everything very well.

again its the intent, not the actually damage you do. temperature in the ground/on the pitch has f*ck all to do with the rules. its not a kids game, or a mess about on the park, the ref is there to call the rules, not to decide 'what's best'*

smith didn't punch out, he pushed out. big difference, and after having his hair pulled, given a facial and saints trying to slow the ball down. it was a fairly normal reaction (not saying it was correct or what we should have in our game), that's normally ignored and play continues. gilmour then throws 5/6 punches at a player still on his knee's. yet has nothing done to him, yeh wise call

* on that note, what the hell was with bentham's "you're going in with too much force" to bailey legal challenge on wilkin

Were you actually at the match, Gilmour roughed Smith up a bit and Smith wanted to fight over it. so Gilmour obliged.
Also Wilkin was face down on the ground and cheap shot Bailey comes down with shoulder and elbow on the back of his neck.
Thats the problem with Leeds when the going gets tough they try rough house tactics and then there game plan dissapears.
What I would like to see from Bailey is to see him come in as the first tackler and flatten somebody below neck level.
Baileys favourite technique is coming in as 3rd tackler when the other 2 have held up the player, a bit like Graham showed on Bailey late in the game.

Again fluent bollox smith pushes gilmour after getting a facial from the sh#t house.
Gilmour then comes the hardman and start's throwing punches while wilkin is on top of him!!
Roll on the cup match oh and 2 words for hard nut gilmour terry newton!!!
