Hall had a mare in the 1st, saying that, had he picked up the loose ball he wouldnt have been stopped, looked dangerous at times in the 2nd. briscoe was outstanding again, apart from the offload in the 1st half, which had calderwood taken he was away down the wing, and also the play straight from the kick off that he dropped.
Both Hornes were fantastic tonight, defence and attack. Lee's play for G Hornes second try was also very good and shows why he is keeping his place.
Sam Moa's 10minutes were also very good, but again, it was only 10 minutes, we need longer out of him. Manu was ok in fits and starts but overall i think our forwards were outplayed by Sargent and Feather. first game that our forwards were beaten, and we struggled at times. We looked dangerous when we used the ball, which we didnt do enough
We should have been getting the ball wide on the 3rd tackle as the forwards on the whole were not doing enough, chiming hall into the line like they were doing with Mcgoldrick.
Might be the kick up the bottom we need, and i fancy us against quins next week!!
P.S Thormans defence, and ability to slide is awful

We looked very tired in the last 20 and our last tackle options were very poor.No pressure on them when chasing our own kicks and we seemed to play down the middle far too much.
The only team that beat us tonight was ourselves. No disrespect to Cas as they played consistent sets and took there chances. However if you take out the mistakes from Hull's game I am convinced we would have won the game.
When we were completing our sets and not giving away penalties Cas where struggling to make the Half way line. All there tries came on the back of penalties or mistakes.
Also I think tickle was unlucky to have one of his conversions dissallowed. to me it looked like it went over. The ball hit the top of the upright and landed in the in goal, surely this means it must have bounced insde the post, if it had hit the outside it would have landed in field.
fc played dumb rugby imo, passes that didn't need to be made, and passes that should've been made(yeaman), saying that, to lose by 1 point and outscore the opposition 4-3 while not being on top form i'm not too worried, just a bad day at the office, credit to cas they took the chances and were more respectful of the ball

So exactly like last season, then?
Oh goody.

A 'bad day at the office' that's seen us drop valuable home points and fail to top SL.
Very, very poor IMO.
Hold on to me baby, his bony hands will do you no harm It said in the cards, we lost our souls to the Nameless One
first time this season that we've looked jaded and uninspired
I also felt in hindsight the bench was wrong, neither Lee or Moa had bad games, but i felt the pace and creativity of Washbrook would have offered more against a pacy Cas side.
it was sad to see that we went back to the 2008 attack of barge it up the middle as well. People keep putting Calderwood down, but he is lucky if he sees one pass a game and even thats usually a poor one near touch.
I think we are in need of reinforcements now, at least a quarter of our salary cap must be on the sidelines or awaiting a Visa and it began to show tonight.

Well firstly it was good close game with a poor ref who just didn't want to see the game flow (not blaming him for the loss).
Our pack was poor for me tonight with the exception of Dowes they didn't seem to be as up for it as in recent weeks.
Calderwood was poor again, his positions in attack at times was woeful, Hall had a poor game by recent standards, but hopefully he will pick himself up and learn from his errors, he is still bedding in as a full back so we have to give him time.
Tickle had a very poor game with the boot which is very uncharacteristic of him and it proved the difference in the end.
Briscoe always looked like making yards when he had the ball and had another decent game, great to see G Horne grabbing his tries.
At the end of the day Cas came with a game plan and stuck to it, i agree with Black & Whitely that we lost the game rather than them winning it. Silly things like when we where 18-12 up and had the penalty near the line, we really should have taken the 2 on offer as it would have given us that 2 score margin. Or Berro not setting up the 1 pointer on the last set we had.
We defended well for most of the game and lets hope we turn it around next week.

Some good points, but I disagree on Calders. Thought he had a great game in defence. Took maybe 1 or 2 wrong options but so did all of them. Was really impressed with his effort to support the opposite winger and had Tom's pass been better we would have been calling him a genius.
Also the penalty chance we had was at 14-12 if i recall and wouldn't have made much difference which is why they ran. The crucial kick was the one at 18-12 and tickle hit the post.
