Ah. Plan B would be to stick Eddie and Stevo in the trees behind, then?

Keep the Skircoat shut unless it's a big game and maintain it to the required safety standards and you'll be reet. Would put a new TV gantry on the roof of the Skircoat though to avoid filming an empty stand and have the East opposite the cameras.

Spot on that, I think we need to keep the Skircoat as it is but ENSURE it is kept in 'working order' for when one day we will need it (not being funny to Town but they are unlikely to need it in the forseeable future anyway, maybe in 10 years time a big FA Cup match?).
We need a good capacity as we may get a 'representative game' which may need a 12k plus capacity one day you never know.
Besides to put it back as terracing would need new barriers and that would cost a fair bit.
Hopefully in the longer term the stand will get replaced, we need to ensure that we keep pushing for this as I don't want a 3 sided ground which is what we have now until the East stand is finished.
Look at Widnes they had that end terrace for years and the same argument could have been used by them i.e. we don't need it.
But look how good it looks having all 4 sides completed plus they get the Cup Finals and Grand Finals with the higher capacity.
I see the East Stand being phae 3 of the Shay redevelopment and in 3 to 5 years I hope we see phase 4 = a new Skircoat Stand.
Lets not have the usual Calderdale glass half empty scenario please!!!

AMBITION.

Cant see the Council taking the view that having something pleasing to the eye is more important than cost.

But to be honest there are lots of things that could be done that do not cost the earth and should be kept up to .It has been pointed out time and again on this board how unkempt the place looks.Just because we will have a nice new stand that does not mean the rest of the place should be left to deteriate.

I dont think anyone could forget that as both you and Fax4Life are like broken records on the subject.

My reply was in regard to the claim that the Council should have ambition and build a new West Stand. Something I cant see happening in the next 10 years.

Er so Halton Borough Council just have that stand at Widnes to 'look at'???
The Skircoat is a functioning stand and my point is with good upkeep (something that in my opinion does not happen at the Shay) it can be used.
The future development of the Skircoat was actually where the Council would get some of their money back for the East stand - according to Mr Butler senior I recall.
Not sure it can be developed myself but we must strive for further improvements as one day the Skircoat will not be fit for purpose.
As I said we do not want a 3 sided ground it looks naff.
