Just for anyone who hasn't booked yet, there's a flight from Liverpoool to Carcassonne with ryaniar on Sat 18/04/09 and return Tues 21/04/09 for £20 return with no taxes added. Got to book by midnight today. I'm on it!

The flight will get you in at 09.10 subject to no delays, but its only an hour away from Perpignan in a cab if a delay occurs or a train ticket at £29.50 return which is easy to book with eurorail. Hotels are from around £50.00 a night so all in you pay around £124.50 per couple for 3 nights.

Just thought if any interested parties out there who were considering going would want to know.

this will not be the end, or even the beginning of the end.
It is merely the end of the beginning

We went on the Saturday flight from Liverpool to Carcassonne last time. There is a bus from outside the Airport to Carcassonne Railway Station that costs 5 or 10 euros. I can't remember the cost of the train to Perpignan but it wasn't very much. The only problem may be train times - but they are quite frequent - and there's a station bar. The journey took just over the hour from memory.

You might have trouble hiring a car at the Airport as I don't remember a Car Hire desk there. Carcassonne Airport is more like Barton than Manchester! When we landed there we were the only plane on the Airport and the luggage carousel was about six feet long!

You'll get to the game with plenty of time to spare though.

You can hire a car there. I did it last year for the play off game. The car hire office is on the right as you come out of the "airport terminal"

I used carhire3000, it was the best deal I could get.

I wouldn't mind them changing it to a bit later to be honest 06.10 rarely exists in my day

On the subject of Ryanair:

Passengers to Suggest Next Discretionary Charge
€1,000 CASH PRIZE FOR BEST SUGGESTION

Submit your ideas by email to competition@ryanair.com

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (12th Mar) invited passengers to suggest the airline’s next ancillary revenue idea after Chief Executive, Michael O’Leary, confirmed that the company is examining the possibility of passengers paying to use the on board toilets in a drive to keep costs down and lower Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares even further.

This Europe wide competition invites passengers to submit their most ingenious, wacky and creative ideas to Ryanair via the www.ryanair.com website to be in with a chance of winning a €1,000 cash prize.

Launching the competition, Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said;

“Ryanair is Europe’s largest low fares airline and we plan to continue to reduce costs and fares by stimulating ancillary revenues. We have always provided passengers with choice, if you don’t want to pay for food – don’t buy it, if you don’t want to pay checked in bag charges – don’t bring checked in bags, if you don’t want to pay handling charges – then just use Visa Electron entirely free of charge.

Since we confirmed that we are considering a toilet charge we have received a huge number of ancillary revenue suggestions from passengers and we want more. We are asking passengers to submit their ideas with the most creative winning €1,000 cash. Some of the best suggests to date are:

· Charging for toilet paper – with O’Leary’s face on it,
· Charging €2.50 to read the safety cards,
· Charging €1 to use oxygen masks,
· Charging €25 to use the emergency exit,
· Charging €50 for bikini clad Cabin Crew.

Passengers can submit their ideas by email to competition@ryanair.com to enter their idea before the 30th March 2009. The winning idea will be chosen by Ryanair and our decision will be final.”

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
