I can't imagine Hull FC withholding tickets against payment on the grounds of a few rumours, can you? They wouldn't go to all that trouble without something considerably more substantial or some actual prior experience I would think.
Most likely just crossed wires somewhere.
Thats why I said 'IF'
I think it might be more down to the fact that they have to give us £1 for each one we sell and they know by limiting supply to Rovers it will not stop us buying them and instead give Hull the extra quid.

The only reason would be if they were wary of not getting payment for some reason, so my guess would be that this is just a logistics cock-up or similar. The story going around the queue was probably just one of those spontaneous things when folk are ticked off and looking to pin some blame somewhere.

Seems equally unlikely TBH. The amount of extra dosh made would be outweighed by all the additional trouble. Plus Rovers can just request more tickets, so there's a limited window where fans would be 'forced' to buy direct anyway.

depends if you were selling something to someone with a bad credit rating.
IMO FC have always asked for cash upfront for the tickets from Rovers for Derby matches since Rovers got promoted......
