Struggle?
Good grief.
I have many wonderful memories of Briers who has, at times, been a wonderful player. I've defended him recently, he has often been let down by other members of the team.
But you can count on one hand the number of times he's struggled in his Warrington career. He is, at best, a lazy sod who has wasted an enormous talent due to a "big fish in a small pond" mentality.
And he has to leave now if we are to salvage anything from our club.

Yes, struggle. Throughout the match he struggled to have any influence on the match, he has struggled for any good form recently, a struggling player especially towards the twlight of their career is a worrying player me thinks.
I havent seen any of your games this year , apart from the televised one but i do have to say i find it confusing that you blame one player for the poor run , especially one who is held in such high regard
For alot of seasons briers has been the most dangerous thing about warrington and I for one hated him playing against us
Is it not possible and probably more likely that this is due to a confidence crisis in the whole club caused by , not only a poor start to this year but , in truth , many seasons of underacheiving.
First Cullen is to blame , now briers , where next ?

Rugby League is a funny game, where things can happen/change quickly. Look at Hull FC this year compared to last. A vast improvement now they don't have the black cloud of injuries against them. Briers is an enigma, yes he as won games but he can't keep it up forever.
There comes a time when you have to move on and let someone else take his place, the problem with warrington is that fans seem to be afraid of the time when Briers leaves, fearing the worst. After all, who was it who got those dropgoals at Leeds, who used to pick us out of the gutter with a sneaky 40-20?
Fans and players seem to fear when he goes, we will not have anyone to take over, by now we should have someone aching for the chance but there isn't!Despite what people think, we won trophies before Briers came and we sure as hell will win trophies when he's gone.
The problem that Warrington have at present is not solely due to the playing staff's ability out on the pitch
IMO the club has recruited Tony Smith to change the culture of the club, They have obviously got a squad of players that are quite contented on living on "easy street" at present.
Warrington's squad looks quite good, <and they are obviously upto the salary cap levels imposed by the RL, so there's no room for further investment in the squad>
There's clearly enough talent in that squad to finish the season in a top 4 spot,.......but why do they consistantly fail to deliver each season?
I wouldn't be surprised to see the exit from the club of a certain ring leader in the not too distant future if things don't change!

About the same time, I remember talk of a Dunneman/Briers swap while Dunneman was at Halifax,
Ive been told by an ex player that Briers has run the dressing room at Widnes for years, if thats the case then by now the coach (be it Cullen or Lowes0 should have dealt with it.
Think it was the same season where he had the selfish 5 drop goals in a match performance which went on to cost Warrington the game

Didn't see any highlights last week but you ran Leeds close, did he have any part in that whatsoever?
Or is it more a kind of Lampard / Gerrard scenario in the sense that the player isn't problem it is the fact he can't operate with the players around him? Some actually proven to be world class (ok 1 or 2 )
Do you drop Briers straight away or change your halfback partnership and see if he shines, plus if anyone gets the best from his players surely Tony Smith does ?
