Reading all these various accounts of what happened, it seems to me that we aren't a million miles away from an 'Eric Cantona' moment occuring at a Wire game.
Personally, while I'm as hacked off as anybody about recent displays, and that certain players need to be looking at themselves in the mirror very closely, I cannot condone supporters singling out players for abuse.
By all means criticise the team as a whole, even boo if you want to, but picking out individuals can only produce a negative effect....Having read the evidence, if I was King I wouldn't be too keen to give my all for supporters whose idea of 'supporting' is to dish out drunken abuse.

The problem is that some people who watch us are genuinely thick and have no idea about acceptable behaviour. They always like to pick a scapegoat, be that King, Monas, Clarke, Penny or previously Wedge.
They tend to ignore the other 16 who took part and just pick on one.
As Emo Philips said "You don't appreciate a lot of stuff in school until you get older. Little things like being spanked every day by a middle-aged woman: Stuff you pay good money for in later life.

I have it on good authority that it's nearer an alledged £180K per season, but still a wee bit more than Noble earns coaching Wigan for example.

When we are talking about abusing players, what are we referring to.
Personally I think fans are entitled to shout things like 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' or 'you are rubbish' etc. as they are part and parcel of being a Rugby player.
I don't think it is acceptable when it becomes personal and non-RL related.

He was a target for the angry fan because he was only 6 foot away from him (after he'd gone to the siding to get closer to the pitch). Scapegoat-a-rama.

What was it yesterday?
Only going from the evidence on here, it seems that those doing the abusing of King were the type of pondlife who seem to thrive in an athmosphere of negativity, simply because it gives them chance to vent their ill educated opinions.
By all means criticise the team, but I get the feeling the people who were baiting King are not bright enough to even come up with a 'You're not fit to wear the shirt'.

I agree that what Matt King has done is disgraceful and infantile but he has put up with a lot of unwarranted abuse from fans IMO.
King by all accounts had quite a solid game yesterday and not one of the ten tries were scored down his wing, so you cant blame his defense on this one.
How people can complain about him disrespecting the fans is bizarre as most of the fans have been disrespecting him throughout his Warrington career.
