Jamal Idris!!!!! How is he 18?

A star is born! Why can't we produce athletes like Falou, Inglis or this guy?

Because the NRL look for athletes not just rugby players. If you are not born in the M62 coridor and not the best player at the club you play at by the time you are 7 you never get a look in.

The NRL look at not only ability but athleticism and athletic potential, added to this they look at the suitability of a player to play top grade, they do not see a player tearing it up in the juniors and think he is the next big thing, they work on them to ensure there game is appropriate to the top level not just assume because they are good juniors they will automatically be good senior players.

Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

With our service area do you not think Wigan should again 'step up the game' and adopt this philosophy? It's defiantly time IL went to some where like the Broncos and look at just why it is they keep producing quality young player after player. What is it they look for initially how do they bring out the best in them, what skills do they coach and at what age?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again in the era of the SC IL needs to invest in other areas like youth development and the back room staff to make sure not only are we producing players (which we are) but they all the skills required to be top international players not just good SL players.

No one should come near us if we maximised the talent in the town and attracted other youngsters with the facilities we have.

Mentality of these young lads is a big thing IMO, i know a few who came through at Wigan and thought they were king Dick strutting around town. In Aus it seems the mentality is you havnt made it until you have a green and gold shirt on.

Keep any eye out for Ian Thornley coming through the ranks; granted Idris is a monster though!

Conroy - Being a Latics fan i'm already immune to watching sh*te.

Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.

Defo. We need more kids like Tomkins x2 instead of the Ashtons of this world. Ashton thought he’d made it already when in reality he had parts of his game to work on. He was talented but if he would have had the dedication and would have been a student of the game he would have been a great IMO.

Id forgot all about Ashton but hes another that fell into the catagory, not surprising the others are no longer at Wigan but commuting up the 62.

There is a big list of recent young players who have been to big for their own
boots--Robinson, Brown, Bibey, Ashton, Sean Gleeson, Kavanagh etc. They couldn't all have been great players but they all thought they had made it before they did.

winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11
