IMO i see no evidence to suggest that Mclennan is a better coach then what Noble is. The fact is he's just inherited a far better team. Noble has had a couple of years to try and build a side and he's done pretty well at it with his hands tied behind his back in a way because of the salary cap and the fact we have some players tied up on big deals who don't warrent them.

C'mon mate noble signed bailey, coley and phelps that's something that can't be excused!!

So you reackon things will actually improve if Noble was sacked???

Now is not the time to sack the coach...

The test for Noble is what he does about the senior pro's who aren't performing and if he continues to give youth a run.

The problem will come next week if the fall guys were Sam or Shaun.

I agree

Noble has played the younger players but has only done so when needs must with the exception of dropping Tim Smith. He got some brownie points from me for that but he didn't have much choice IMO. He also got some for sticking with them v Leeds.

However if he drops the young players for next week and reverts to his usual selection style the knives will be out. Particularly if we don't play well or lose as it isn't the young players who are under performing.

nice to see opinion split. Boards decision isn't usually to far away from the fans calls. Credit to you for the patience.

Giving him the season is a better option but I think it's clear some of the guys aren't cutting it for him, nothing a nice off season cut wouldn't solve.

Hold up homie. If you're feeling froggy, Jump!

Defensive line tactics, acting half tactics. They had NO hooker tonight and every player regardless of position had the skills to pass off the ground a basic skill we lack. Leeds were far from full strength tonight and they hammered us. Not to mention the bench tactics.

To me given the fact that theres no relegation this year we should use this season as a way of bedding in a few youngsters to get used to the bigtime intime for us having a good pop at a trophy next year.

That would be allowing Noble 4 1/2 seasons to get the team playing.

The problem I have is that in the meantime the team fails to live up to its billing. That has got to be down to the coach.

We have seen good players come and go who were swimming against the tide (Barrett) or not used properly e.g. Calderwood. So there have been missed opportunities under Noble as well.

The team should IMO be doing better than it is regardless of the "deadwood". As far I as I know the only legacy contracts will be Fielden's, Bailey's and TL's and the majority of our current squad were signed under Noble or had contracts renewed under Noble. Are we really excusing Noble based on the salaries of three players?

Quote:Aslong as Noble continues to give youth it's chance this season as and when they deserve it and doesn't blame them for all our failings i'll be happy enough to see him in charge beyond this season.

I'm not 100% sure that will be the case though.

I have always said he will get this season regardless but still believe youth has only got it's chance under Noble by accident rather then design. Nothing has changed my view on either subject this season. Yes OK he dropped Smith for Tomkins but I think he would have been sacked by now had he not done so, so it isn't enough to convince me has has turned over a new leaf as regards player selection.

Noble should not be sacked this year. I won't budge on that. I believe their is at least a cup winning 17 within our squad, and we aren't far from having it on the field.

If this season continues as it has started with disapointing losses, then a high which can't be backed up, then he won't have his contract renewed simple.

We can't go OTT tonight, Leeds were bloody good and deserve credit.

As I said earlier, next weeks team selection is a big one for Noble.

Leeds had three major first team players off sick, and still made us look crap.. we havent progressed, we are stagnant and im sure our crowds will prove so..Lucky to avergage 13.500 this season..

Nothing to do with that. Regardless of how poor Salford might be, if the Noble doubters are correct re youth we will see next week.
