When Mr Whelan announced in the local press the other week that he was going to open a lads and girls club, I was reading it in the local shop and of course having a chunner along the lines of, omg please don't tell me the man is going to do something I may have to like him for.
Our shopkeeper, who I hadn't realised knew anything about Rugby, but does have a degree in business began to tell me that he had been studying him for years, all through his education and assured me that he won't be doing this for philanthropic reasons it will be solely for some profit.
It didn't reassure me really, if this lads and girls club does come out of the planning stage into reality; even though he annihalated Orrell and tried to do the same with us, he will actually go up in my estimations.
And I am dreading that day, its the chuckle of the month at work, two extremes are meeting. My passion for work with young people and Mr Whelan.
