I have posted this elsewhere, and the whole episode is beginning to annoy me.

As an example, in the Castleford game Steve Bell, His wing partner Cyril and Tommy Bosc defended like U8's.

Bell is a new player,he needs time, he has just come back from illness, the side is disrupted in that Ryles and Raguin are out, Ferriol has just come back from a long injury last year, Fakir has been injured at various times.

The whole French aspect of the side has just completed the longest season many of them will have ever played and they competed in the World Cup.

There are plenty of reasons why this side is stuggling at the start of this season, Perry may be one of them, but he aint the only one.

Walters and Perry are becoming the scapegoats from fans who should know better IMO.

Fair points all, but Perry has a lot to do to suggest to me that he's up to the job.

I agree hes up against it, in that he doesnt have the profile or track record of our other overseas signings, but I could name other players who come to Super League with a less than handsome CV in Aus.

But with most of the fans baying for blood before theyd even seen the guy in a shirt I just dont think its on.

Fair points made. I do think that Walters does have some explaining to do, if not about Perry then about Bird. The bottom line is we have the backrow forwards and we have a half-back in Bosc. We don't need an etranger to take up those roles. We don't have limitless cash, so given the choice between investing in UTC or Bird ...

Perry could turn out brilliantly and we would agree with Walters' decision. Bird could be the best player on Earth and we still wouldn't want him. Gorrell was superfluous to our requirements, I doubt Bird will be as good as him.
