In the second half he took the ball in and as Newton came in for the tackle, Fileden lifted his knee. It's something he has again been warned about.
Newton said something to him. Wigan went up the field and scored.
From the kick off Fielden got the ball looked up to see where Newton was and ran straight at him.
Wouldn't read too much into the Fielden/Newton incident. Seemed like in Fieldens interview for the WEP that it's always a heated exchange when they play against each other but are good mates off the field.
I certainly hope he isn't missing for Leeds, Fielden is the hardest working forward at Wigan IMO, something which he never really gets the plaudits for.
Say what you want about Fielden not living upto his price tag but he's still a very good forward. He makes yards and gets through tonnes of work in defence.
I'm not sure he'll ever be back to the old vintage Fielden but aslong as he keeps churning pout displays like last night i'll be happy enough.
Hopefully come next year Lenagan will look into extending his deal on lesser terms allowing us to get him some real quality help in the front row.

He needs some more help in the front row, I'm not putting a downer on Feka's/O'Carrolls performances because they have been great, but Coley just isn't doing it, an Andy Lynch type forward would suit Wigan down to the ground.
Better still is there a Reserve prop ready for the step Rogues? I know Mossop is there and there abouts but he's more a second rower.

Ben Davies looked very good in the friendly but I'm not sure if he is better suited to the second row.
Fielden had a good game. He has a fantastic work rate and gets through a lot of work in both attack and defense. He is not to the standard he was at Bradford but he has been much better so far this season and needs to keep this up as one of our more senior players.
I agree with calls for him needing a bit more support up front. I think his recent improvement has been down to Feka and O'carrolls form. I thought Andy Coley had a better game tonight to be fair but still is a bit of a donkey at times going forward. I can't wait for Paul Prescott to be back fit and ready to go because I think he could give us that extra edge going forward. Prescott O'carroll Feka and Fielden will be a very good set of prop forwards for us.

Agreed. A fully fit pack of Feka, Fielden, O'Carroll and Prescott is a good and very talented pack. The only issue I'd have with signing a new prop would be that O'Carroll and Prescott would become victims of it, one of them will be dropped, and undeservedly too.

I think we need to see how Prescott plays when he gets back into the team, We all know he is good when hes on form. If he plays well then I dont think going for a high payed player like Lynch would be the answer, OCarrolls now shown he is a first team prop, weve got Fielden and Feka, so if Prescott shows so great form like he has done in the past then we wont need Coley and we will have 4 good props. On that basis it wouldnt seem fair dropping Prescott or OCarroll imo.
Fielden was the unsung hero last night, made a load of metres and on top of that, his defence is excellent, he runs Locky & Bailey close in terms of defensive effort.
