I know.
I'd be happy if he could for now, get half of his game in order. Say, if he was back at centre, still had crap hands, no skill etc, but absolutely nobody went through him, if he was solid as a rock defensively I'd be pretty happy with that, I know you want more from your 'star import' etc but at least you'd have a foundation to build on, and he could build his confidence from, eventually, he'd get enough good balls to get over the line.

why back at centre he`s a winger...bridge plays centre and he`s a stand off....hope smith sorts this out asap

He's not a winger, he's slow as hell. He's a centre, though he just hasn't made a very good job of it thus far at Warrington. At Melbourne, he played centre, we don't need to go into the whole thing again about better players etc but the facts are that he played left centre, and had to mark right centres, centres like Gasnier, Lyon, Hodges et al and his team won the league, so he must have done okay at it.
I'd like to see Bridge in the halves too, but I'd also like to see Michael Monaghan show his best form for Warrington, over a period of time, and really show us what he can do, but I'm also not in the 'Bin Lee Briers' category either, I still think he's our most creative halfack, so I don't really know where I stand on this. I think I'm in the 'Give Monaghan & Briers one last chance' (I don't mean one game literally) to form a partnership under the guidance of Smith, with Bridge from the bench if you need a more direct running approach.

good points but how come he played on the wing for the aussies....think wherever smith plays him he`s got to get his finger out and show us a bit..after all he does owe us big time

Better centres than him, simple as that. They couldn't find a place for him at centre, so they put him on the wing. Like they did in the last World Cup with Joel Monaghan, Australia tend to have a powerful winger, they have done for quite a while with Sailor, King, Monaghan etc, they also have a very pinpoint & targetted kicking game to utilise this, we don't. In SL, you'll get more chances from your own half, sweeping moves, 2 v 1's from distance etc, King isn't the man to make the most of these, at all. Put it this way, he's on the wing now for what he's NOT done not because it's what he's good at if that makes sense ?
I would have dropped Matt King today and played Chris Bridge at left centre to reward him for a solid display last week, the new coach could have made it clear that no player is guarenteed a shirt here. Matt King could have had no arguements, he could have played Penny outside of Chris Bridge as Leeds don`t have the strongest right hand side and Penny may have got a bit of first team confidence back.

Tony Smith's already said Jimmy would be the one mostly responsible for the team this week. After all, he only came in on thursday. I think Smith's job will will be take over from monday.
