Might be good to set some criteria for who makes the 22. e.g. If you were doing an 80's/90's one it would be easier. Or club captains. Or local/English born players. Or League/Cup winners.

Everyone has their own pet faves, i.e. Kev Ward, George Mann, Shane Cooper, Dave Fairleigh, Darren Albert, Chris Arkwright. And everyone wants to see great players from their era. But will these be legends or even Hall of Famers in years to come?

I saw my first Saints game in 1985 and wouldn't recognise a pic of Killeen, Coslett, Huddart, Matthias, Pimblett, Watson, Prescott etc even though they are in the Hall of Fame. Then there are younger people who won't remember Loughlin, Veivers, Cooper, Haggerty, Holding, Ward etc.

Just a thought. Set some rules maybe.

True, but on boards like this you might get a bias towards modern-era players.

Them as who put the effort in and the dosh should be them as who has casting vote.

I think it's a fantastic idea by the way.

Thing is, we aren't going to please everyone.

When It comes down to it, I may seek someone from each Generation to meet in a pub and thrash out a list of names.

Just a thought but is there any real reason why names can't be added under each picture? If as you rightly suggest some people wouldn't recognise pictures of the older players.
