What does it do for us? It's absolutely pointless.
We don't use it in our marketing, the tag isn't useful for anything and it's just there because of the introduction of Super League. To me, it's obvious that it's just a matter of time before it's dropped so why not just do it ASAP.
Riverting back to Wigan Rugby League Club is only a matter of time in my opinion.

Leneghan has stated that he likes it and that it will not be dropped as it is a brand that our more recent fans can relate to, i say get rid me sen like
Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF 70-200mm F/4 L USM, Canon EF 50mm f1/8, Sigma10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM and that's how i roll
Judas Priest's Tyrant, better than anything The Killers, The Script & The Black Keys could ever come up with
If you check on teletext or newspaper articles, which looks better from a Wigan point of View:
''WARRIORS BEAT ______''
''WIGAN BEAT ______''
If your flicking through Rugby League news on your an not a huge RL supporter then Warriors could be anybody.
Warriors simply isn't Wigan, so why have it kept tagged onto the end of our name? It isn't our identity, it isn't used and in my opinion it makes us sound slightly American-super-dooper-hyperfyed....
We're a traditional Rugby League club and even our young supporters recognize that.

The way you have been going I would have thought either would look fantastic from your point of view.....

its always wigan in cup games on the bbc and games on the radio.
its only bert and ernie on sky that insist on using the warriors moniker.

I say drop the warriors tag for sure, its pointless.
Only way it will effect anything is about 2 of the songs.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS
Remember a few years ago when we had that questionnaire handed out before the game to be used to gather a general consensus amongst all fans about certain issues?
Well I am pretty sure that one of the findings of that was that the Warriors brand was the one to move forward with, I think the majority of fans responded positively too it. The following season of the questionnaire saw the introduction of the 'Wigan Warriors' badge to the official jersey. Where it has remained since.
I'm not totally against the Warriors brand but I do always refer to use as Wigan Rugby, even though I've now known them as the 'Warriors' for the longer amount of time!
I do however think it is a more marketable name for the club and as stated many times in this thread (and the hundreds of others there have been) those who knew the club as Wigan R.L can continue to refer to it as such, I don't see the big deal!
