DANNY LOCKWOOD - LEAGUE WEEKLY (18-5-09)
I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.
What is all this about, we have the two best wingers in the country and the biggest prospect ever in the same positon. Ignore the original thread and enjoy.

Defensively great second half, tracking back twice if i recall to tackle man and ball, just one criticism, that all wingers are coming in for at the moment, he's either in front of or level with the centre, so not running on to the pass, otherwise sound for me.
Good defensively but I don't believe with our style of play that we'll ever get the best out of him. Our game plan isn't expansive enough to exploit his running abilities and our kicking game isn't good enough to utilise his pace. We also ask our back 3 to take the ball in for the first 2 or 3 tackles and this isn't a strong area for him meaning we don't get the best platform early in the tackle count. A quick look at the stats for the 1st 3 games is quite telling

Calderwood,Raynor,Briscoe.
Not bad options in all fairness.Personaly I think Calderwood will do o.k. for us as the season progresses.
All we need now is to start using the wings.

Are you talking attack or defence?
I don't see it as a job. It is a passion and love that we all share. Neil Hudgell
