Richards was dropped to the reserves when Noble first came in and he responed extremely well.......

It's up to him to show the right attitude to fight back.

I've been ressurecting old academy match reports back to 2002 recently and he ain't the first. Danny Orr, Dave Vaealiki, Pat Richards, Mark Calderwood, Brett Dallas, Jerry Seuseu and Shane Millard have all played reserve grade in recent seasons. In fact Mathers himself was dropped for a game last year.

Surely that must have only been to ease him back from an injury?

It was. It was a play off Senior Academy match a week before his farewell appearance at the JJB. Not quite sure why they bothered though.
