I am not putting Gibson down - I am suggesting a different position more in line with his current physical state - Ashley has considerable skills what he lacks is raw pace - sadly centres in the modern game have to have a turn of pace.

Until he is fully match fit how can we assess his pace????
IIRC he didn't look too slow putting in a covering tackle after an atkins break!!
It's all well and good trying him in a new position but LF isn't one of them when we have sinfield and lets not forget ablett plays there aswell.
So he'd still be way down the pecking order at 13.

I agree if he's not 100% but surely we should trust the medical staff.

Does anyone think that Bluey will handle Watkins and Gibson like he did with Smith and Hall. Both were dropped after good performamnces last year, and it allowed both to get game time and not get too complacent. I think it could be a good idea. I don't really mind which plays, but would prefer it not to be Ablett, he needs to be played in position.

If the medical staff (who have the final say on this type of injury) say otherwise, what reason is there to doubt them. I've had a few sport-related concussions myself, only once has it left any residual effects after a few days. In that instance it had caused a "cerebral contusion" (bruised brain to you and me) but it isn't hard for a doctor to spot that, and the player would know about it as well!

Sometimes players need protecting from themselves - Keith Senior should never have taken the field against Hull in CC final but he said he was ok - these guys are warriors with that type of mentality

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

This is a little different though. You might be able to talk the medical staff into letting you play with your ankle strapped up, they're not going to be that flexible with a brain injury though.

He must be really fatigued with the 16 mins he's played this season.

Quote:Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

El Diablo wrote:I'd still prefer Senior, but in either case, if both were to play on their preferred sides, Gleeson would be facing Senior. Perhaps that's the way to go?

My recollection is that whenever Senior & Gleeson have been in opposition they have marked each other, & usually marked each other out of the game.
That's what I expect to see happen this weekend.
I think Paul Johnson coming back from injury will be a very dangerous opponent in the back line, wherever he plays.
I just hope we put on a better display than last time at the HJ.
