Given someone has mentioned about a guide to Headingley and someone saying Ari Gold should do a pub review of Headingleys boozers (no chance, he cant remember any of them, i thought i would take it on my big broad shoulders and give you my personal review of the public houses of Headingley

The Oak
Good old "ole time" boozer in Headingley with a beer garden just ever so slightly shorter than Cala Millor Rhinos chest. An alright pub, normal ales you would fine in all other boozers and do nice food however their is a downfall...

AVOID IN THE SUMMER
If nice weather the tax dodgers and Ari Gold will be out in the garden taking up your drinking space and wasting their money on the wee water that is Carling and lapping up the sun

The Skyrack
Over the road from the Oak is the Skyrack. Now before I start my review of this public house ill lead you into a personal opinion of this pub...

its shite, i hate it. Now dont take my opinion for granted, after all I like Girls Aloud. However there is something that makes me mad about this place. It feels IMHO that they want YOU to feel honured that you have stepped in their pub. I dont. Horrible floors and beer is as flat as a Danny McGuire pass

Headingley Taps

My fave boozer in Headingley, nice inside, good choice of same alcohol as everywhere else AND if its a Sunday, they do a cracking Sunday lunch with a drink for £4.95 which will leave you full for the rest of the day.

Trio, Arc and The Box

These three "Bars" ive labbeled together as well, they are owned by the same bloke. Trio has a bar which sells foreign beers which is alright. Arc is very nice and expensive and has a lovely food bit next door (The baked Brie and Onion Chutney is very nice). The Box is expensive and full of wannabe Uni WAGS

Up Otley Road going away from the Headingley centre is three other booozers famous for being the starting point of the infamous "Otley Run"

Woodes (The Woodsman for McLaren Field)
Pub with wooden features, simlar sort of alcohol you would fine anywhere else

The Three Horseshoes
My fave drinking hole in the world at minute, nice warm feeling, cheap food & drink and show RL (well they didnt on Saturday but most other times they do)

The New Inn
The landlord is a Robin (or the last time i went in was) ok pub, usually very busy but they do have the added bonus of having a Dart board

any opinions please leave below ta!

There's a place in the arndale centre that does a cracking range of beer. I think its called Arcadia. been in a few times and seems nice enough

Why did you bother?

hardly insightful, well written or well researched was it?

I'll do my review for you;

The Oak:

My advice is to avoid this like the plague. It's full of Leeds Uni toffs living it up on their daddy's credit cards, and you can get exactly the same deals (and a slightly better pint) up the road in The Taps.

Skyrack

I like the Skyrack, and often venture in on a night out with Loz just because he doesn't like it. It serves decent fosters (as decent as Fosters can be) at £2 a pint, and there's nearly always someone I know behind the bar, meaning no queue time.

Headingley Taps
My regular haunt on match days. The beer is pretty decent and the food isn't bad for the price of it (sunday dinner is very good). It's bit rubbish for watching live sport though, as shorter people like Loz struggle to see the TVs high up on the wall.

Box, Trio and Arc
These again are favourite haunts of the upper class girls who have one sniff of Smirnoff Ice and are off their heads. If you want to pull some upper class lady hole, I suggest going here. They also serve Ari Gold's favourite beer Desperados, but due to them being £3.50, and the credit crunch, I can't afford these.

Three Horseshoes
My favourite pub in Leeds since I moved here, cheap beer, fit barmaids, and a massive screen for sport. On a slightly amusing note, look out for the bloke who stands by the bar who is the double of Micky Rourke.

These are the only ones I've been in, unless I was too drunk to remember being in the others.

I don't need you spotty little oiks telling me about the Pubs in Headingley.

I was boozing the Otley run whilst yer father was drunkenly groping yer mother. In fact, if yer mother was in Headingley any time between 1988-1992 there's a strong possibility I could be yer papa.

Not you Loz. Obviously I could never spawn anything as ugly as you. Or you Jord. I could never spawn anything as stupid as you/

The Oak - alright in summer but only tend to go in there in winter if we are running late as I can't stand the Skyrack. if there is a queue of the unwashed, I wouldn't bother.

Skyrack - used to be the best bar in Headingley years ago until they 'did it up'. It used to be and should be the main Rhinos bar. However whenever we do have to go in I get a feeling that the tax dodgers are looking at you as if to say "why are you lot in a student pub". I refuse to queue to get in here after a game.

Arcadia - best bar in Headingley. In before most games. Think its nice because before a match it's mainly Rhinos and the opposition fans who like a decent pint and not the cr4p they sell down the road. Plus the higher prices keep the students out.

Woodies - Nice bar, sometimes get a few ex players in before games. Never too packed either and decent beer

Three Horseshoes - Alright, nothing special just a typical old pub. Good beer

New Inn - A bit too modern inside and the beer (including bitter) is a bit fizzy

Taps - not been in for a while. used to love going in there on a Sunday match and having the steak and chips

Trio etc - In term time i steer clear. Not that i don't like students, wasn't that long since I was one but they always seem to look down their noses at you. Plus i hate southern accents, which a lot of them in there have.

Box - Alright, bit pricey for what they serve though

We now however mainly sup in Leeds before getting the bus/taxi. Scabby Taps, POW, Spencers, Brewery Taps or Adelphi

I get stupider by the day me, all the drink has killed off my two brain cells.
