I think it was obvious with the backroom staff changes in the off season that we were preparing for this.
Bringing in Nigel Wright was the obvious link to the Wakefield connection for those smart enough to notice. I only hope that the time out of the game has given Tony some time to refresh his coaching ideas so he can come back stronger this time, I don't think Wakey gave him enough time before.

Can you imagine? I almost hope it happens for the comedy value.

Meanwhile, Lowes will have to stand there nodding and backing up his new superior, which will be a tacit admission that much of what he (Lowes) has been doing hasn't worked.
Given that Jimmy has said in The Guardian that he's doing things his way from now on and will stop listening to others this announcement should be interesting.

Roy Evans & Gerrard Houllier
John Dorahy & Alex Murphy.
I think things will get worse before they get better. I think Jimmy will end up walking with Smith taking over the reins completely.
Also where does it leave Nigel Wright?
Well done for missing the point entirely, then proving the point, then missing it again.
Wright is assistant coach, that will not change.
