In all seriousness, I'd like to see Smith in with Lowes as an assisstant. He is not ready for a head coaching role whatsoever, and I have criticised him to the high heavens.
Coaching isn't something you can pick up in three or four weeks, I'd like to think Lowes will have learnt from this episode and would appreciate cutting his teeth working alongside a highly experienced and successful coach.
I was in favour of the Licencing system, mainly because I thought we'd be able to develop young, British players AND coaches. Lowes fits the category of the latter and I wouldn't like to see him go down the route of Harrison (I know he's back in the game now), 'Casper' Smith, et al and be lost from the game entirely.

Barely! And he is only coaching coaches not players.

I know. But if I hadn't put that in, someone would've jumped on it and said "he IS back in the game now".

Would anybody actually be happy with that scenario? I personally wouldn't be happy with Lowes anywhere except another club

If somebody comes in then it should be their prerogative who they have in their backroom team. The new man may want some continuity by keeping somebody who was already at the club, or he may want to bring in his own people, either way the man at the top should have full control about what and who he wants, in return for that he should be held accountable.
I can see Lowes being part of a new structure where I could never see Cullen fitting in a position where he was going back down to being assistant. Daryl Powell did it when Smith took over Leeds in 2003, stepping back down to an assistant role (wasn't the original plan that Powell would take over in 2006 again?)
If we are to announce a new head coach then it will be a welcome move, my order of preference would be Hanley top choice, followed by Smith and then Folkes. I like Folkes and would be interested to see how he'd do in SL, Smith edges it over him because like Hanley, he has won a title over here.
Lang and Murray I don't think are going to be in the frame any more, otherwise Murray would be right up there for me.

Quote:Warrington Wolves have called an emergency press conference which is to take place tomorrow (Thursday) at their Haliwell Jones Stadium.
Although speculative has been rife that head coach; James Lowes is about to be shown the door by the Super League club following three successive league defeats, it is thought that the gathering will actually be to announce that the Haliwell Jones Stadium is indeed a community stadium, and that foul and abusive language will not be tolerated in any area. In addition, any fans found standing on the yellow lines, will now be asked to leave the ground at home games.
In addition to these revelations, coach James Lowes will have a larger, sound proof technical viewing stand built before the Leeds game this coming Sunday. The club hope that this will allow the struggling ex-Bradford hooker the opportunity to concentrate directly on the game at hand rather than responding to the mob-like supporters with two-fingered gestures throughout the 80 minutes. Former Wolves' boss Paul Cullen had a similar, albeit smaller measure put in place in 2007 after fans stopped chanting his name as he walked across the turf at the Wolves' prior to kick off.

Powell is now head coach at featherstone, so much for coming back into the fold at leeds, it was never going to happen.
I mean she even cooks me pancakes
And Alka Seltzer when my tummy aches
