Given the (Weekly) Scandal that grips the BBC this week has involved a contestant on University Challenge who was no longer a student, had we better make sure that the players who turn out for Loughborough Uni on Sunday are still enrolled at The Uni and not working for a firm such as Price Waterhouse Cooper or similar?

Yer they could be 'mature' students like me though!
How do they qualify to play for their Uni?

Whats peoples views on what the score might be on Sunday???
Am I being greedy and disrespectful when I want a record score and the ton up?
Serious, its not our fault we are playing a Uni team its what the RFL want.
They may make a bit of a fight of it but I doubt it very much myself and if we play a reasonably strong team as we probably will as even our fringe players will be too good for them (and hungry to impress) then surely we could have a massacre on our hands?
Its a Semi-Professional team we have at the end of the day and I want a professional job doing on them, other teams do it look at Wigan last year against Haven!

Sorry Loughborough Uni but......

I think, With Loughborough been a "Sports College" or whatever phrase they prefer, the players will be fit and able to run all day. However, how many of them will have Rugby League as their first sport?

Even then, unlike many Amateur Sides at this stage of the comp, they won't have the older heads in the team with the expirience of playing against the better opposition, or Ex Pros like some times.

I had a look on their website earlier, they look like they usually hand out hidings, Northumbria Uni were beaten by them by 84-0 or similar and they had another large drubbing that they'd dished out, however Leeds Met Carnegie (who play Donny IIRC) Beat them recently 34-28 or similar.

I expect us to beat them quite comfortably, we beat Eccles and Salford Juniors 86-12 back in 2007 at home and beat Cas Lock Lane at The Shay 66-0 a few years previously. So any less than that and i'd be disappointed given we arguably have the best squad since we got relegated and I'd fancy the current lot to give the 2003 a hiding.

Playing a "Second String" could be even worse for Loughborough (or Blackpool for that matter) as the "Fringe" players will have a great chance to impress and stake a claim for a "first team" place.

I hope so and as I say nowt against Loughborough Uni but come on this is a great chance for the fringe players to shine and show how good they are, anything less than a 50 or 60 point margin would be a let down really.
Come on go for it lads and make a name for yourselves - I would.
Records are records no matter who the opposition is.

Record score for a challenge cup match is-

Huddersfield 119 v Swinton Park 2 … 1914

Not quite sure we can beat that, but beating our own record is feasible.

What is Halifax's record score for a Challenge Cup Game? surely the 86-12 against Eccles and Salford Juniors?

yer I think it is.

Just a thought anybody remember poor Illingworth getting slaughtered by 100 at Rochdale in the cup?
Painful on the radio that was but like I say if you can hammer a team then why not?
