they were missing a few, didnt have home ground advantage, got leeds after theyd had more games to get ready and still won.

fair effort because i honestly thought leeds would win.

if it was played in Oz it would have been far, far worse.

Leeds were battered.

The final score flattered Leeds as Manly slacked off once they knew the game was won.

Lets face it, Leeds have possibly the best pack in the SL league and it was smashed into the ground by a Manly team playing its first competitive fixture.

its good to see the obvious hypocritical idiocy regarding the WCC is still going strong,

either it is a valid measure of a clubs ability, in which case Manly are the best team in the world right now and a higher quality team than leeds, but leeds were the best team in the world and were a higher quality team than melbourne,

or it isnt and it tells us nothing,

only an idiot tries to have it both ways, its one or the other

fwiw i thought Manly were very good yesterday, the best team won, but id also say Leeds have started the season much slower than last year, they were without 3 star players, are a little light this season until eastwood arrives, and we didnt play as well as we could yet still finished within 8 points

imagine if leeds had tried and put as much effort in as they did the previous year

You mean just like Manly did to many NRL sides last year, including the supposed best team in the world - Melbourne - who they utterly destroyed in the Grand Final.

Manly destroyed the Warriors, Cowboys, Roosters and Wests by big scorelines in 2008, and beat Penrith (twice), Parramatta, Cronulla, Gold Coast, Canberra, Souths and Brisbane by more larger margins than last night.

Yes, Manly were the better side, that was clear. But Leeds weren't a patch on their performance last year, were without a couple of key players, and still managed to hold their own fairly well and get around Manly's defence a couple of times.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

its still a mickey mouse game.

and in that leeds got blasted off the park when everything was favouring them

play it at brookvale and it would be 100.

leeds last tackle options were terrible.

its the same problem GB have faced against australia.

zero pressure

there was about as much penetration on last tackle as a guy in a brothel who cant get a h*rd on

Alice's Phallus wrote:Leeds were without:

Full back: Brent Webb (NZ international)

Hooker: Daniel Buderus (Australian international)

Scrum half: Robert Burrow (England international) after 16 minutes.

The three key positions in the team were not filled by the first choice players.

How could anyone have expected an understrength team with such setbacks in key personnel to compete with a full strength and well oiled machine like Manly.

It was in fact an unfair contest.

Webb - replaced by Lee Smith(England international)

Buderus - replaced by Diskin(England and GB international)
