I feel suprised that some people thought the game really end to end and tough. Manly won at a canter and as some of us have stated this shows the standard of super league, Manly cam eoverwithout a couple of top notch pl;ayers and I understand Leeds the same but the quality came from1 team.

At present Jamie Peacock is walking a fine line, sin binned twice in 2 matches where others may not have been so lucky, especially the last match. Some players get sent (red card) he seems to get yellows, not an issue if we are consistent.

We are now in my view seeing the results of hyped up drivel by Sky pundits and a low salary cap situation where we will llose our best players. What is more apparent is the "built in" ball skills of the Aussie league players. All this rubbish about our league being faster and more skilfull is tripe. At present the Wigan side is the most unattractive side in the last 20 years so where does this "skilfull, attractive" stuff come from?

We are light years behind in method, fitness, application and worst of all effort. Our players have an easy life dishing up mediocrity.

Exactly. If the ref genuinely thought that was a dirty tackle, then he'd have red-carded the culprit, Burrow being knocked out cold.

There was nothing wrong with that tackle, and the ref knew it. He blew up in response to the crowd.

As for the game itself, I was again reminded of the WC. If Leeds represent the best Britain can offer, then we really do need help. Manly won it at a canter, if we're honest. And how telling that, the two good tries Leeds scored - not counting the last one, which happened because Manly had won and were clock-watching - were the handiwork of Lautiti. I'm just wondering how long it'll be before Britain starts to produce its own world class players again.

Manly were all round the better side and IMO Leeds were lucky to be only 8 points behind. The Manly 11 Anthony Watmough, was outstanding.

Ryan Bailey is a thug, throwing the sly little punches.

Agree, we really have the best game in any sport.

Are you telling me that the wonderful Leeds academy are not producing world class players?

Did I hear it correct tonight from Mick and Montmorency (alias dumb and dumber) that Leeds had the most English born players ever to play in a World Club Challenge game.

I thought Wigan beat Manly with a complete English born team.

I lie I know Wigan beat Manly with a complete English born team.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

There was absolutley nothing wrong with the Watmough tackle on Burrow. Burrow would get killed if he played in the NRL each week. His stature would be found out week in week out in the NRL especially with hospital passes like the one he got tonight.

It's very true what you have said. Manly were clock watching for the last twenty minutes and dropped a gear down. If Manly had played the same number of games in the NRL as Leeds have done in SL Leeds would have been blown apart down the middle. They got battered by a bigger pack as it were anyway.

The lack of class players in SL at all clubs is telling. We just aren't producing players with enough skill and flair anymore and that goes for all clubs.

We certainly heard a lot about them tonight. But in truth I didn't see much from them that would worry even a Wigan fan like me, let alone an Australian. (Disappointing to see Peacock get caned as well. - the big chap's finally feeling his age.)

Dumb and Dumber just can't resist sticking the knife in, can they. They couldn't avoid making references to the 1987 match, but Eddie still managed a scathing: "If you listen to people in Wigan, everyone in the town claims they were there." If my memory is correct, near enough everyone in town WAS there. It doesn't surprise me that Eddie Hemmings would try to rewrite that piece of history.
